Changed lineup on KCCT Corpus Christi?
I cannot find a contact number to complain about Ed Schultz replacing Randi Rhodes and (at least part of) Al Franken on this radio station. I have not yet heard the morning show so I don't know if they have made changes there. How can they call themselves an Air America station if most of their lineup is not Air America? I really, really want to call/write to complain about this crap.

1. I had heard of other changes in the line up that also caused me to worry.
Even down in Corpus Christi, I can pick up the KTXX Karnes City Air America station at FM 103.1 so if the bottom falls out at KCCT, we can still get Air America from KTXX 103.1.

3. Well part of her show is on
I caught a bit of it with Thom Hartmann earlier. But I had heard rumors of a local guy taking over from 5 pm or so. So far that hasn't happened. So we probably get the last 2-3 hours of Randi for now. I don't know how much of the Franken show. I wouldn't mind someone in place of Springer.

5. We do get the whole show, it's just not live
The time of her slot has been shifted so she doesn't come on until 5:00.

9. I think they've lost me as a listener.
Their other radio station, while they play good music, has some of the WORST DJs I have ever heard. Completely unprofessional morons. Which I guess at least means they are not phoning it in from some booth in Chicago or somewhere but still. Thank god for podcasts of Democracy Now and Counterspin.

7. I really am not interested in local talk
Not uless they rail against the greedy jackasses on the council taking our beach away! I am so angry about that I could spit. Guess it is petition time.

Between that and the county wanting to give money to a pharmacy school in ANOTHER COUNTY (like we don't have an bridges to repair???) I am fed up to here with local politics. I wouldn't have thought it possible, but the local guys are more corrupt than Congress, just more transparent.

10. There seems to be no end to the bending over
that the city council will do for someone, anyone, who wishes to develop something here. They are just so desperate, that they are ready to give away everything. I am guessing that the next step will be giving the resort private use of the stretch of beach because having just "regular people" on the beach hurts the tourism potential for the hotels, and they will threaten to close if it is not given to them, at which point, they will get their way.

13. I think we can say goodbye to the Open Beaches Act
somewhere in the near future. Texas was progressive, amazingly enough, to pass it was back in 1959 (before most of the development began). It is one of the most progressive beach access laws on the books in the US. I was not aware that most states do not guarantee public access to most of theor beaches. Most of it is private. Laws vary somewhat. I would really hate to lose that.

14. How do we stop the city council from giving Paul "Mark Scott's My Bitch"
Schexnailder the public's beach?

17. I think it will be hard, because they see money in this.
And apparently, they have been convinced that this is the only way to assure tourists. That and the ever present ferris wheel idea in all of it's permutations.

11. I'm glad Vicente has a show, but I wish it wasn't on KCCT. He has a very
interesting perspective, but he's a poison apple for the local Democratic Party, which has enough rifts without someone using a radio program as a pry bar to widen the rifts. If Vicente saved all the time he spends ripping on local Democrats and spent that time and energy challenging Republicans (including our useless city council and mayor -- we NEED to end the sham that those are nonpartisan elections), I'd understand why he would belong on Air America. Unfortunately, that's not Vicente's style so I suspect that Vicente's move to KCCT will be the final straw that moves me over to KTXX -- if I wanted to listed to someone bitch incessantly about local Democrats, I'd listen to the drivel from Lago or Von Wade.

Here's a story that gives some insight into Vicente's perspective: <http://www.texasobserver.org/showArticle.asp?ArticleID=1552>.

P.S. How long before Vicente jumps on Rose Vela's GOP bandwagon? I'm thinking Vicente's just waiting until "coastalbendoldmajor" finishes his four part series at South Texas Chisme on why the Democratic Party has no future <http://stxc.blogspot.com/2006/03/democrats-do-they-have-future_15.html#links>.

12. I admit I don't know anything about him
I should listen just to see what he has to say. Local politics just gives me fits. I haven't followed the rifts closely enough to know much about it. I pay attention to certain issues, especially those related to Packery Channel and development out on the island.

I will read those links. Thanks.

8. I would not mind giving up Springer either.
So far, I am not that interested in Ed Schultz. especially not as replacement for Randi Rhodes.

15. Vicente is better than nothing
Vicente does give the local D's a hard time (M. Watts) but he also gives Loyd neal, the City, ect. just as much.

We need LOCAL talk radio! it covers the local issues that dont get covered on local TV news. So I for one will tune in when he hits the air. I would rather have Vicente than nothing at all!

16. I guess I am a little confused
Today I tuned in and it seems to be the same lineup. But there was an hour of dead air earlier. I swear I heard Ed Schultz yesterday. I wish they had a web page or something that would tell me when or if the switch is occurring.

18. I know this is late, but does anyone like the new lineup?
I am sorry, but I cannot listen to Vicente Carranza. I do like Mr. Kelley's show. Sick of the sports at night.... There is very little to listen to on the station anymore. What happened?

19. At least John Kelley's show is great and we can get Air America out of
central Texas on 103.1 fm. I also like the Art Ball show.

20. I forgot about Art Ball!
I do like that one, and I understand her frustration with the almost total lack of recognition of anything art-like in local media. Thanks for the tip about 103.1 fm, I did not know that. :-)

21. I heard Joe Flores. What an awful show! He's not the least bit progressive
His talking points would make a moderate Republican blush.

I'm so glad he came in fourth place when he ran for judge.

What's up with KCCT giving so much air time to conservative nimrods?
