1. Oh yeah!
That sure brings back memories from just last weekend. Jack Blood and his crew look like their out for blood. I wish I had been around for the fireworks. David did hold his own though. He's not a successful lawyer for nothing. He thinks and responds quickly. Nimble mind with an almost photographic memory.

11. thank you for backing me up sister
But you know, I could take PDittie down if I had too. He needs to understand the power of the Chicana. It doesn't matter if we're short, we think we can win anything. So as long as you believe you can, you're going to outsmart your opponent because you got heart. Chiquita pero picosa.

10. Jack Blood and me
Engaging with Jack Blood and the group of Alex Jones-Jack Blood fans he brought with him was one of the most enjoyable parts of the filibuster to me. We found common ground in our mutual staunch support of the 2d Amendment (yes, my progressive friends, it is one of the most important Articles of the Bill of Rights and it has nothing to do with hunting) and they already knew about my "A" rating from the NRA which they liked very much. And more basically, we found HUGE common ground in mututal opposition to the Patriot Act and the Bushite police state.

In response to their anti-immigrant arguments I said "no way to a walled border, not in my America will I put up with living behind a wall," and on the minutemen I told them no way on private vigilantes patrolling the border. I told them that I will go after corporate employers who break immigrant hiring laws and labor laws in order to exploit the fragile situation of immigrants so as to obtain cheap labor and create unfair wage competition - and indeed I will. That criminalizing and rounding up human beings whose only "crime" is the desire to live better is not the right way to do anything, but that greedy employers whose desire is simply to get labor as cheap as they can and disregard labor laws are another story.

This engagement lasted about an hour mostly in the physical setting of myself at the middle of a circle of Blood and his people. It ended with Blood and his group sitting on the ground quietly while I read off the names of the 187 defenders of the Alamo in alphabetical order. I am sure they noticed the several Hispanic surnames of Tejanos from San Antonio and Laredo among the fallen. The Blood group left very quietly. Some of them returned for the final sprint of the Filibuster between about 4:00 and 6:00 p.m. I noticed one wearing a T-shirt I liked: "Tyranny First Response Team."

In rural areas I have had lots of encounters similar to the engagement with the Jack Blood group. I wish the Democratic establishment would understand that there is great opposition to the Bushite police state in the substantial libertarian wing of the Republican base. It is potentially a powerful wedge issue for us. However it will not materialize for Beltway Democratic softies who sit there and let Alito breeze by and then vote for the Patriot Act renewal. With enough help I can make that wedge occur.
