Hart Intercivic optical-scan systems in TX?
Edited on Thu Mar-09-06 03:04 PM by liam_laddie
The "Ballot Now" system...
Does anyone know if this relatively recent addition to Hart Intercivic's
line of voting machine systems was used in any of the TX primaries?
Other than John Gideon's October 2005 entry on VotersUnite, I can't
find any comments about this system. We in Hamilton County, Ohio
will be using this county-wide for the first time in the May primary.
It was used Feb 7 in a seven-precinct "special" election (local school
tax issue) and apparently raised no objections.
We have one scanner per precinct, as I understand it. I don't know
if there is a printout at precinct level, or memory cards are taken to
the BoE, or if there are any wireless ports built-in (IR, RF...)
Will post to the TX state forum, too. Thanks to all for any comments!

1. Hm, why not pick up the phone
and call your county elections administrator? I'm sure they would know. Or better yet, volunteer to work the election and you will get a worm's eye view of your system. It's fun! And they pretty much always need election clerks, or at least we do in my county.

For the record, we don't have Hart Intercivic in my county.

2. I don't think that particular equipment was used in Texas
I don't think the TX SOS updates their web site often enough, but here's the list of Texas Counties and what systems they use. Who knows when this was last updated.

Here is another link on VoteTrust USA on that piece of equipment. It may be the same item you saw Gideon post on VotersUnite

Hart Intercivic's spiel on it
