- Laura Miller: "At this time it's unclear if the mayor has opened to make a bid for re-election.
- Bill Blaydes, District 10 councilmember: "on the fence based on the outcome of campaign contributions."
- Gary Griffith, District 9 councilmember: "'Yes, I am running for mayor.'"
- Darrell Jordan, former mayoral candidate
- Phil Ritter, businessman
- Veletta Lill, former councilmember
- Max Wells, former councilmember

and the only candidate who has officially filed?

- Zac Crain, a former music editor for the Dallas Observer. Niiiiice.

I certainly haven't seen him around at any party functions. And, local elections are ostensibly "nonpartisan" although everyone kind of usually knows who's who.

I kind of doubt local voters are going to go for the "firey outsider critic from the Observer," though, considering that they've apparently had their fill of THAT from Mayor Miller. :D

He'd probably be the only candidate who's ever had a song written about him, though.
