Demonstration in League City against immigration harassment
I just got this in my email, for anyone who may be interested:

Yesterday in League City, police officers and immigration agents swept through two day laborer sites and took more than sixty immigrants into custody. An emergency demonstration in solidarity with our immigrant brothers and sisters will be held tomorrow, Saturday, January 21, at 2 pm in front of the League City Police Department, 500 Walker Street in League City.

Directions from Houston: Drive South on I-45. Take the League City/FM 518 exit. Turn left and proceed East on FM 518, which is also called Main St. in League City. Turn right on Highway 3 (about one mile from I-45). Then turn right on Walker Street. Drive past City Hall, the Municipal Court, and a few other buildings, and you will reach the Police Department. There is a sidewalk in front of the Police Department building where we can assemble.

Please join us in demanding an end to anti-immigrant repression and harassment. This protest is sponsored by the Latin American Organization for Immigrant Rights and the Progressive Workers Organizing Committee. For more information, please call (832) 692-2306.
