2. Hi! I'm in Plano now, but I lived in Denton for 11 years.
I loved how it felt like a small town but had most of the conveniences of the city. Cupboard Natural Food Store is great, downtown festivals are very cool--be sure to catch Brave Combo. Can't think of anything else right now; got any specific questions?

3. I live in Denton County. Expect some scowls when you have your
Democratic candidate's bumper sticker showing. There are a lot of nice shopping/bookstores/restaurants /antique shops. It is a fairly large town. Where will you be working and where do you want to live?

6. We rented a house this afternoon
Our landlords are teachers. The husband is a elementary school principal.

We were already at the house when he got there. He said "I see you have a Dean Sticker, and a Texas Democrat , and pro choice sticker. You realize that you are moving to Denton County, right?"
"Yep!"
"Good, its always good to have more Democrats."

He started to ell us that there was a chili deal coming up. We had already put it on our schedule.

We are moving up from Llano County where there are even less Democrats.

8. Ft Worth here,
Keep an eye out for the local theatrical productions and the college theatre groups up there. They have some good live theatre in Denton.

other than that I don't know a whole lot about Denton.

9. I live in Denison.
My son Zachary goes to UNT and loves it. He opened last night at "The Garage", which is kind of a local watering hole hot spot for that crowd. Frey street, I think.

10. Denton is a schizophrenic town..
... yes, it is run by Republicans and there are a lot of very conservative folks there.

On the other hand, it is a university town, with UNT and TWU, and it has a college-town feel. Lots of interesting people. My ex lives there :)

I bet you are going to like it!

12. Two universities and it's also prime quarterhorse country.
Particularly the northern part of the county around Aubrey and Pilot Point is known for breeding some of the finest quarterhorses in the country.

Interesting mix; UNT with its renowned and liberal music department(it also has an excellent Environmental Sciences department)coexisting with genuine Texas horsemen.

The City of Denton is also progressive in outlook. They've instituted a biodiesel program for fueling city vehicles with the rest on sale to the public and also have a composting program using sludge generated from the water reclamation plant. They also have a minimum starting wage of $10.00 per hour for any city job regardless of how menial it may be.
