An elementary school PTA in the Plano school district is suing its former treasurer over accusations that she bilked the group out of nearly $60,000 by writing false checks to herself.

The Haggar Elementary School PTA alleged in a lawsuit that Dallas resident Elizabeth Payne falsified signatures on 59 unauthorized checks in less than one year.

The lawsuit comes as a Rowlett woman awaits trial on charges of writing false checks valued at more than $20,000 while she was a PTA treasurer. Another mother pleaded guilty to stealing from a Royse City elementary school last month.

In October, Ms. Slavin said, she received calls from several businesses with complaints about unpaid bills. When Ms. Slavin checked the PTA's bank balance, she said, it didn't match financial reports from the treasurer.

3. We had the same problem happen at our school

but in the some of $1500. Here is the kicker too. She is the daughter in law of our school board president. We had to play the political game to finally get our money back witout causing too much of a stink. And yes, they are rethugs!
