BAND December Dinner Report

Thanks to everyone who attended! This was a great event. Lots of fun and great speeches by Barbara Radnofsky, Nick Lampson, Janette Sexton, and Sherrie Matula! We had Melissa Taylor from the HCDP join us, as well as Rachel Dragony from Democracy for Houston and others.

We had a very special drop in guest, City Council Member Shelley Sekula Gibbs. She is an avid supporter of Tom DeLay. Although she was not with our party, she was warmly welcomed and stayed through the event with her daughter, who signed a petition for Nick Lampson! (YEA!)

Nick Lampson, President John Cobarruvias and BAND member April Moon led the group in Democratic Carols. We were also entertained by a comedian Sai Ramaday. Lots of laughs!

Looks like a wonderful party. Lovely guests. Is that a reindeer on your tie?

How about that Gibbs' daughter standing up for herself and breaking ties with her Mom's politics. Great for her!

We're hosting Nick Lamspon here in Austin tonight. He'll be taking a load of Austin cash home with him, because we love you in the 22nd District too!

5. Nick was great

We had about 50-60 people at a private home and it was very nice. Nick told us the story about his Mom making sure they all got good educations and how she got her G.E.D. at 80! She sounded like a wonderful woman. She passed away about a year and a half ago, but it sounds like Nick is still trying hard to make his Mom proud.

Reminds me of my Mom. They did all they could to make sure their kids had a better life than they did.

He told us about his sister who needed to be in an iron lung when she was a child, but how his Mom always made sure that she would have a normal life. They never gave up on her, no matter what the doctors told them. His sister not only got a high school diploma, she got a college degree and her masters in education, and was able to live a normal life and have children. He told us some pretty heart warming stories. Nick's heart is the right place.
