TX Watchdog groups push for investigation of Reed (ralph)
http://www.statesman.com/metrostate/content/gen/ap/TX_Lobbyist_Tribe_Texas.htmlA
AUSTIN — Three Texas watchdog groups asked a Texas county official Thursday to investigate former Christian Coalition founder Ralph Reed, who worked with lobbyist Jack Abramoff to press state officials to shut down two Texas tribal casinos.

Texans for Public Justice, Common Cause of Texas and Public Citizen filed their complaint with Travis County Attorney David Escamilla.

They said Reed failed to register as a Texas lobbyist in 2001 and 2002, when he received an estimated $4.2 million from Abramoff and his partner Michael Scanlon to push for the closure of casinos operated by the Tigua tribe of El Paso and the Alabama-Coushatta tribe of Livingston in East Texas.

Aw, couldn't happen to a nicer guy. Failed to register as a lobbyist - imagine that?

1. I was hoping someone would file charges
I posted a topic last week asking if it was legal what (G)Reed was doing.

I started reading the email files of (G)Reed, Scamlon, and Casino Jack. Around page 32, there is a script that the Texas Christian Coalition was using to call people to explain the gambling issues they thought was so important. In that script they tell the general public that if they are opposed to gambling they could talk to their representative.

This is the part of the story that I was concerned about: If the caller answered yes, then they informed them that they could put you in touch with your representative, which at that point they would Patch them through to the Lege. Also it wasn't just the lege who got patch throughs, you could also get patched through to none other than ole GoodHair Perry.

So, Is that legal in the state of Texas. To use a non-profit to get direct influence to our representatives???
