2. Okay, maybe it'll be a blue county
But you just know, deep down, that * and his cronies in the Lonestar State are benefitting financially from this disaster, and not only from the oil revenues. These cities and towns and businesses are going to reap a good portion of that 60 billion plus allocated to the tragedy in the Gulf Coast.

4. Houston just doing a better job
Originally there were 26,500 in the Astro dome Reliant complex. We have been relocating them to smaller shelters here and around the country. Wonder why Dallas prefers to keep them like cattle instead of finding them better places to live.

5. We don't PREFER anything.
What the hell do you think people here are doing? This was kind of sprung on our city with very little notice, if you'll remember.

Houston does not have a monopoly on kindness and good will.

7. Oh sweetie,
that wasn't at you, don't worry!

It was to the disgruntled poster above, who seems to have a problem with our city.

Also conveniently forgetting the fact that we were only given several hours to prepare for a load of 10,000 more avacuees than we were originally supposed to get. Thanks Rick Perry!

9. Sorry
Did not mean to dis Dallas like I did. I must still be angry over losing to the Cowboys a couple of weeks ago. Dallas is a fine city with many caring people. Please accept my apologies.:banghead:

12. Thank you.
I have offered a room in my home, so have THOUSANDS of others in Dallas/Fort Worth.

We were not prepared, but I thikn the people of Dallas are stepping up and doing the best they can.

8. That old Dallas vs. Houston thing , right?
• 16,000 hurricane victims are living in the Dome (down from 17,500 from Monday)

• 4,500 in Reliant Arena (up from 2,300)

• 2,400 in Reliant Center (down from 3,800)

• 2,500 in the George R. Brown Convention Center (up from 1300)

• 40 new arrivals last (Monday) night, 51 this (Tuesday) morning
Stats from Houston as of Tuesday. I had no idea that Dallas has taken that many people. Good going, Dig D.

10. Ugh...there's no reason for this
This thread looks like a d*ck sizing competition or something. Who cares who has more at any given time, when the fact remains that they all need help no matter where they are? What is the point in comparing really huge numbers of people when your response as an individual should be the same in either city?

14. Yeah my friend here in Austin
is helping relocate six families into the apartments her complex has donated.

Of course we will take care of our own.

But there is a Houston / Dallas rivalry on the books. So. I hope this isn't about that.
