I'm back from Dem Fest
Due to a sick pet, I had to come home early from DemFest, but I can report that a good time was had by all & (at least as of about 10 pm last night) no one was invited to have a free ride in a police car & spend time at the Travis County Holiday Inn.

I spent most of yesterday in the Big Tent, in the heat, but surrounded by many like-minded folks not only from Texas but from around the country. The lunch-time panel with Molly Ivins & Jim Hightower was probably the highlight of my day, closely followed by the CSPAN 3-covered panel regarding Tom DeLay (who's very short & from Laredo, two facts he likes to keep covered up so I'm gonna say 'em every chance I get). The highpoint of the evening, however, was listening to Howard Dean dish out some more HELL for the Republicans to swallow!! Also a highlight were the two Republicans who BOUGHT TIX TO A DEMOCRATIC EVENT, sat down at the DU table, & then got huffy & LEFT when they realized what was actually going on!!! :dunce: I heard the woman was pretty pissed off about the whole thing, but the guy was polite enough. But really, didn't they READ THEIR TICKETS TO SEE WHO WAS ON THE BILL????? :dunce:

Saw the PDitties, who are wonderful as always, thanks to GOPisEvil who drove me to Gruene for the Old 97's concert, hats off to Velma & NoPasaran & the rest of the Austin crew who put this event together. YAY to Crispini, CitySky, Derby, thoughtcriminal & I really hope I'm not leaving out any other DUer I met, but wow, great times, folks!!! Hope we can all get together again soon!

For those of you who missed this event, make plans for next year, folks!!

What a hoot! This is something that the party should have been doing! DFA was not only fun, it was pretty damn good!

You know, if people would just listen to Dean.....

3. Just got home too, less than an hour ago
I had a great time, learned a lot of good stuff to use in my activism too. My highlight was when some New Yorkers said how surprised and proud they were of Texas Democrats. They really weren't expecting much from us, as we seem to have a reputation across the US that Texans are a lot like the crawford idiot.:puke:

I wish there had been a DU gathering so I could have met y'all, but I did have the pleasure of meeting WolverineDG, BouncyBall, and GOPisEvil. All these fine folks in addition to my established Dallas DU friends ginbarn, derby378 and crispini.

Now, let's all get to work and bring down this rotten, corrupt "leadership" we have.

4. It was TOTALLY kewl!
And so much fun to finally meet the the faboo WolverineDG, the PDitties, Mr. "Make Delay My Bitch" JohnCoby, NoPasaran, VelmaD, CitySky, and GOPisEvil -- as well as seeing all of the usual suspects from Big D. It was a great event! The most encouraging thing was seeing all of these hardworking activists. They said that registration closed at 1000 and about 900+ folks actually showed. There were 2500 at the Stubbs event, which explains why it was so darn CROWDED!
