Save America Without DeLay Fun Family Festival Sat., 5/14
Did you see Lisa's thread earlier about this?

(This is gonna be a great day! This month's http://du.meetup.com/6/">Houston DU Meetup is coordinated with this festival, and the Art Car Parade mentioned below and our Go Away party for slutticus is that evening also! You're invited to any or all of these events! Bring your family!)

Citizens from all over the Houston-Galveston area will gather for a fun family festival to draw attention to the unscrupulous brand of politics practiced by U.S. Representative and House Majority Leader Tom DeLay (R-Sugar Land). An evening of fun, food, and information is planned! Confirmed speakers include: Richard Morrison, former Democratic candidate for Congressional District 22; former U.S. Representative Chris Bell; Lou DuBose, author of The Hammer; and Ivan Espinoza, a youth leader and founder of HDGE (Help Democrats Get Elected). Other highlights include True Majority's “Spank-Tom DeLay-Mobile”, a grassroots activist training tent, and other fun games and activities for the whole family.

When: Saturday, May 14, 4:30-7:30 p.m.

Where: Tom Bass Regional Park #3, Pavilion #4, 15108 Cullen Road, Houston, TX 77047

Cost: Free

RSVP: www.democracyforamerica.com/DFHpicnic (for accurate food count)

Free hot dogs with chili and cheese, chips, and drinks will be provided for everyone. We ask everyone to bring Desserts for Democracy to share and books to donate for the DFH “Books for Soldiers” community service project.

Democracy for Houston invites progressive clubs and organizations to set up a booth at our event. This is a great time to recruit new members. Due to strict finance laws, organizations will not allowed to sell any merchandise at this event. To reserve a space, contact Melissa Taylor at mrtfordean@yahoo.com by Wednesday, May 11th.

(We will walk with "Spanky" in the Houston Art Car Parade on Saturday, May 14th. If you haven't seen "Spanky", go look here. Stay tuned for more details.)

For more information or to volunteer to set up, contact Leah Burris at democracyforhouston@hotmail.com , or visit www.democracyforhouston.org .

2. Kicking if for our Houston folks
I saw Spanky yesterday afternoon in Austin. It was sitting at the corner of S. Congress and Oltorf in a small strip shopping center. DeLay was getting his ass spanked good.

Good luck to you in Houston on the 14th. You have a full day of fun activities. We're doing a day of action event here locally with DFT. I do wish you the best and I expect lots of pictures.

Sonia
