UT 19th Annual Heman Sweatt Symposium on Civil Rights 4/25-4/29
All events are free and open to the public. All events are in the evening and at the LBJ Library, Museum or Bass Lecture Hall. More at URL below:

40 Years: The Voting Rights Act of 1965
Panels include:

  • The Voting Rights Act, the Cold War, and the Struggle for Democracy
  • Pop Culture and the Vote
  • New Voting Technology and the Voting Process
  • An Evening at the Lyndon Baines Johnson Library and Museum with Mr. Nick Kotz

  • Keynote Speaker: Congressman John Lewis Recognized as one of the "Big Six" leaders of the Civil Rights Movement, Congressman Lewis was one of the planners and keynote speakers of the historic "March on Washington"

  • Dr. Jonathan Rosenberg, Hunter College of the City University of New York
  • Ms. Jehmu Greene, President, Rock The Vote
