5. I understand, but let me see if this puts it in perspective.
If the resident were actually from some smartypants librul state back east and

if the legislature of that state were illegally redistricting for a perm gerrymandered one party state... If it subverted justice for its most corrupt congressman, who made it happen...

If its major corporations celebrated an embedded business scandal that wiped out hundreds, indeed thousands of investors and employees, while at the same time cheating a nearby state out of billions of dollars...

If that state had a city that was an education disaster, but was trumpeting itself as the education model for America...

Might you feel differently, if the state were not Texas?

21. Nope.
I don't ever lump a whole area of the country together like that. I think that the people on this board should try and stick together and not put each other down like that.

6. You have my sympathies, 2bfree.
It's really a diss at WhatsHisFace & those who support him.

Texans like you & queeg being here at DU does a lot to squelch the notion that all Texans support WhatsHisFace.

Don't let it get to you. When some DUers were bashing all Southerners in red states after the stolen election, I kept it in perspective & allowed them the anger & frustration. I'm angry & frustrated myself; just because I live among idiots doesn't mean that I'm one, too. :)

8. The moran Repub people who surround me make me want to leave Texas.
GAWD it's infested here with Dubya worshipers.

It's gotten so bad that every time I drive by a body shop I laugh at all the wrecks with W stickers on them. I yell "idiot" at all the cars with Bush/Cheney stickers.

Those who live in blue states really should sympathize with us liberal Texans. Think about it - not only do we have to live with Dubya as President for another 4 years, but everyone around us voted for him. UGH!!!!!!!!!!!!

9. You can't blame folks for posting legitimate news stories
and you can't blame responders for grasping at any straw that would rid the rest of the country of Texas's village idiot and his mafia.

Condolences on being from the state that has supplied us with the worst president ever, even if he was born in Connecticut and raised as a New England preppie. He's still parading around like a Village People Texan, and I'm afraid you're going to be stuck taking the heat until he's gone.

Cheer up. Another state will take the heat four years from now, especially if the DLC is still powerful enough to cram Richardson down the party's throat.

18. Hi, 2bfree. Can I recommend an antidote?
Go on-line to one of the book services (amazon, abebooks, etc.) and see if you can get a copy of Larry McMurtry's IN A NARROW GRAVE: ESSAYS ON TEXAS.

Nobody knows Texas like McMurtry and he s wildly interesting and very charming and personable.

It is the best book on Texas I have ever read.

They don't mean anything by it. During Clinton's eiht years, the repukes were bad mouthing Arkansas and you know there were tons of repukes in that state. Once Bushit is out of office, the Texas bashing will pass.

29. Is That Some Attempt At Humor......
....or are you serious?

If you're serious, how about telling us why you think Texas sucks. In detail.

I guess it never dawns on all the DU Texas-bashers that there are hundreds of thousands of loyal Democrats in the state, or that there are undoubtedly a lot of Texas DUers (like me)who get really tired of all this crap. Right now, I'm "represented" by nothing but right-wing Republicans, from county commissioner all the way down to the occupant of the White House. I don't need a bunch of mindless prejudice from fellow Democrats, thank you very much.

My suggestion to fellow Texas DUers? Confront this hatred in every thread where it appears. Forcefully. Profanely. Regularly. Until it stops.

35. Back At You
I've lived in this fucking state for all of my 54 years. There are a whole lot of things that I don't like about Texas these days, but I like to think I'm committed to doing what I can to make things better, and I still believe the good aspects of the state outweigh the bad. How about you? Does "Texas sucks" pretty much do it for you, or are you setting your sights a little higher? We could use the help.....

36. Good grief.
Too bad we can't even have a thread in our own forum that doesn't have state bashing in it. I see plenty wrong with our state but I also see that there is a lot right with it as well. I actually love living here and can't imagine moving out of the state. I wouldn't talk bad about other states (in general) here because I think DUers should stick together and not rip each other to shreds just because of where we live.
