a good night for civil rights

Quite a show at the Austin Four Seasons tonight for the Texas Civil Rights Project. 400 folks, pleasant chatter amongst the guests, serious words from the podium. These are hard times in Civil Rights said Jim Harrington, if you don't fight this battle each and every one of you, then nobody will. Felix Justice did a complete King speech about nonviolence during times of war. Since King is our great American philosopher, the speech keeps on punchin thru the madness. Danny Glover read poetry from Langston Hughes. You shouldda heard him whisper, "America was never America to me." Add that to the experience of seeing Amy Goodman play to a room full of indymedia folks on campus and you gotta feel that the people are risin up.
