Bush decieving Christians in Tennessee
Is anyone else so digusted with out Bush is decieving the Christians in Tennessee by using fear and "Christian" propaganda. As a very avid believer in our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. I am absolutely digusted to see how Monkey boy and his Bannana crew have used God's name to win votes in the bible belt. I live in a very impoverished area (Perry county) and it is painful for me to see how so many Bush supporters are the very people he has so greatly oppressed in his 4 years of office. He plays off the poor quality of education (which he plans to do nothing about) in these areas to win the hearts of these innocent God fearing individuals. So many of these people b/c of how the media has portrayed GWB as such a God fearing person are praying for his victory in this election. It is time for all people in the state of Tennessee to spiritually fight against this. Pray for John Kerry and John Edwards in these next 2 days. Fight against the ignorance that we all see and that God would want us to combat spiritually. God bless the democratic party!!!!!!!!

1. I pray for them both
I think when one looks at the words of Jesus, one can successfully argue that Bush is NOT following the Master's teachings.

13. I need some HELP! I read a letter today...
In our local newspaper :Democrats can't force their morals on voters":
http://www.tennessean.com/opinion/letters/archives/04/11/61314475.shtml?Element_ID=61314475

I am so angry that I am afraid that any response I post will just make me look like a "sore loser".

Any suggestions? I'm thinking about quoting the Dec of Indep and "inalienable" rights as the true "Dem Morals". Any thoughts?

Oh, and also check out the first letter on the site:
Creative people have credible viewpoints

TN may be a "red" state, but we have people here love Freedom as much as anybody. As far as the "celebrity" factor is concerned, I think this letter sums it up as well as as any. COPY/PASTE IT EVERYWHERE
!

2. Not only in TN....
but across America. I live in Nashville and there is a large church here with 5000 members....they (most) went on Thursday the 28th and voted for Kerry/Edwards. I don't think Bush will win TN in a landslide-- I think it will be closer than they think. You are correct that is disgusting the way Bush et al are deceiving people by using himself as a chosen by God President. GEEEZ....I'd think Bush was the antichrist (if I believed in an antichrist).

3. Welcome to DU, china!
I'm glad to have you here! You're right, of course, but don't be too surprised: this year is just an amplified version of the degraded nature US politics in general. After the election--no matter the outcome--we will have many the same problems to address that we did before the election. Keep working, and never give up.
Have a good time at DU!

6. i'm gonna keep fighting even after the election
Having my first child in the end of september, farenheit 911, and John Kerrys efforts during this election and during the Viet Nam war as inspired me to really start getting involved with the democratic party and politics in general. We need to change this country! mostly for our children. so they can grow up free just like we did. I was thinking a few days ago about what this country was like before sept 11--before Bush really started using his power to control people. And for a second I remembered what it was like to live in a TRUELY free nation. Where we could be what ever religion we chose and think of the president how we wished. I see those freedoms being taken away and i see the oppressive bigoted aditudes reflected in my fellow americans who choose not to/or are not abled to be educated themselves.
I was reading the Tennesseean today and i saw the US map that shows what states are leading as far as the 2 candidates are concerned. i found it ironic that the states with the best quality of education are the ones who Kerry is winning (Like connecticut, california, new york) and all these states like Tennessee, Mississippi, alabama, where the education is not as great--bush is winning. I grew up in Connecticut and i in no way want to put down the people of the south who have taught me how to value and treasure simplicity in life. The people who have so much faith. The people who gave me a place to live when i was homeless. I love the people where i live BECAUSE their values DO NOT coincide with what George W Bush values. The values reflected in Bush's deeds are more the values of the people who live in the richest sections of Connecticut, Massachucetts, New Jersey, and California. The people who are affiliated with big business. the people who all they can seem to think about is money and greed. that is what i left connecticut because of. because my husband and i could not make it there. but we have made it in Tennessee because people care more about helping and "loving thy neighbor" then making a profit.
George W. Bush is abusing the uneducated people of the south. And their God fearing, patriotic values. I love this country and the south is one of the only places where the true essense of the American dream and the value of a dollar and an honest days work is still alive. I do not want to see Bush kill that with his oppression. while brainwashed people are too blind to see who is oppressing them. its so hard too because the repulican Bush supporters are so afraid of "terrorists" that they get so angry and are so unwiling to hear the truth. Its so tragic.....God please have Kerry and Edwards win this election. It is my last hope for this great nation.

7. One exception to your education theory: Chicago.
My restive city is very, very Dem, but our public schools are a shameful mess. Overall, IL is in bad shape in terms of public education.

5. Here in Hardeman Co. (western TN.)
the minister of my Mom's church put out a very pro Republican/Bush flyer for all the members. Mom said he evidently copied the flyer from someone else. In the flyer it "told" members they should vote for the "godly" men or NOT VOTE AT ALL. Citing abortion and gay marriage as the reasons. My mom, my aunt, uncle and their daughter all attend this particular church. Needless to say they (being Democrats and Kerry supporters) were extremely upset. They intend to let the minister know how hurt they are. My mom voted early and will be a poll watcher for the Democrats on Tues. We're all Christians and Democrats. I am praying for a Kerry landslide.

8. They vote with their heart, I choose to vote with my head.
My entire family is conservative Christian a.k.a. Republican; in their eyes you can't be one without the other. Just got off the phone with my mother who told me how shocked and upset she was to learn I had a Kerry/Edwards sign in my yard, and that she couldn't see how that as a Christian I would not vote for Bush. She forgot that I've been voting Democrat since I was old enough to vote (for 24 years now). Tried to tell me that Kerry is in favor of abortion and for letting children be adopted by gay couples, and a vote for Kerry means I'm in favor of those things, too. Couldn't get a word in edgewise to explain that pro-choice does not equal pro-abortion, or that being heterosexual does not magically make you a good parent. We never got around an unjust and unnecessary war, OBL still on the loose, foreign policy that almost guarantees the need for a draft someday soon, growing disparity between rich and poor, all talk and no action on health care and education, worse job record since Hoover, record debt, scandals throughout corporate America... thank God my cell phone battery was getting low and I had to end the call.

As a Baptist in Knoxville, raised by a conservative family and nurtured in a restrictive, fundamentalist church, I guess I'm the ultimate black-sheep. But I am sick of the idea that the only good Christian is a Republican Christian. Even if I agreed with my family on the issues important to them, there are so many other important issues that define this country, this campaign, and myself. I'm a Democrat for the same reasons they are Republican: I let my theology determine my politics, and don't let my politics determine my theology. The only difference is my theology is much more inclusive than theirs, and that I choose to think for myself rather than let someone tell me what to believe.

I do pray for Kerry & Edwards and their families, that they will take courage and not lose heart from all the criticism they receive, much of it in the name of the same God they worship and the same Christ they follow. But more importantly I pray for this nation, because we are so divided and there is so much hatred and mistrust between us, I fear a terrible mess no matter who wins this election. It will truly take a miracle to unite this nation; may John Kerry and John Edwards be merely two of the instruments God will use to bring it to pass...

9. I was going to skip reading this forum this morning
As I have a very busy day ahead I am so glad I didn't your words all of you have given me hope....I had a letter to the editor in yesterdays news paper....about abortion, stem cell etc...I am proud to say I changed one person...I got a call from a lady who had decided not to vote because she was a Christian who could not support Bush...But my letter showed her how one issue voters were wrong...because it is ultimately in Gods hands.

But that was yesterday and after seeing how so many different religious stations chose to run the Documentry Stolen Honor...and I tuened in to several local church services to hear Bush being endorsed from the pulpit my spirits were sagging...and you all have lifted me up....We can change this world ...ONE VOTE at a time if necessary....

11. American Taliban
Every time I see one of those seething, screaming preachers going on about gay marriage and abortion (ABOMINATION!!!!!) all I can see is some fundamentalist mullah in a turban spouting off about death to the infidels...either fundamentalism gets us to the same hateful places, leading to nothing but violence and divisiveness. When did Christianity stop being about God's love and Grace?
