Any word on the fundraiser Gore is going to host for Obama in Nashville?
I've read that Gore plans on doing two events with Obama at some point before the convention in Nashville, one of them a big public event and one of them a high dollar fundraiser. I want to try and get to Nashville to see this if possible but thus far I haven't heard anything about the date.

1. In this Morning's Tennessean
On the night of Tuesday's debate at Belmont University, the former vice president is hosting a $2,500 per person/$5,000 per couple, "post-debate dessert reception" at the Gore residence, according to a copy of the invitation.

The invitation specifies that the first $2,300 of each individual contribution will go to the Obama for America fund. The next $28,500 of each person's contribution, the invitation says, will go to the Democratic National Committee.

4. Ask The Tennessean
Our newspaper. The one that used the phrase, "suppose to be" in a story, I think about an ADHD kid who was handcuffed. As in, "he was not suppose to be restrained."

I shit you not.

3. sorry
I know this doesn't have anything to do with your thread here but, I'm a newer member on DU and I don't have enough responses/replies to threads to start my own.

I have a quick question for you. I'm a union worker in mempis and a few of us have gotten word that several union contractors in nashville have jumped ship and have laid off as high as 700 people and I'm wondering if you might know if there is any truth to this or are we just hearing vicious rumors? We've tried to find out a few things here and there but, it seems that any one that may be in the "know" about such things are seemingly quiet when asked.

Any response would be appreciated. Even if it were to call me "chicken little."

thanks

6. back on sorry
sorry it's taken so long to answer. I've been out of town for Little over a week. All that I've heard is that they were all electrical contractors. I don't know how many contractors but I've heard rumor that it put in numbers upward to 700 people out of work almost instantly. Any info you could get would be much appreciated. If there is any truth to this, I know for a fact that every contractor affiliated with IBEW are watching this to see how it pans out and how they could capitalize on it.
