1. Lamar will have primary competition...
Chattanoogan Mark Albertini said Monday he will run as a Republican for the U.S. Senate seat held by Sen. Lamar Alexander.

He earlier ran for governor and the state Senate.

(He ought to be entertaining -)

Republican gubernatorial candidate Mark Albertini spent Thursday night in jail in Knoxville after a run-in with a Knoxville Police officer.

Albertini, 45, pleaded no contest to a charge of public intoxication on Friday morning and was released.

The GOP hopeful said he had a full glass of red wine at lunch on Thursday, but he said he did not feel he was intoxicated.

3. He was, but then he dropped out!
He spoke at our local Kefauver Dinner and even my son was groaning saying that he needed much more of a platform and polish.

Last that I heard or read in the paper no one has currently stepped up to run and it's a shame as someone who's willing to go after Lamar should be able to do rather well.

4. I would like to see Bart Gordon or Jim Cooper run. Do you think Bredesen would run?
He's on his last term as Governor.

5. Bob Tuke and Mike Padgett
We had a Move On event at noon today in front of the Solomon Bldg. (Chattanooga) where Alexander's office is. We presented a copy of the Iraq and Recession Report to his office and for good measure Zach Wamp rec'd a copy and so did Corker.

We gathered on the sidewalk and read the entire report and pedestrians were slowing down or stopping to listen and we gave them copies of the report to take with them.

It would be so nice to retire Lamar!

I'm familiar w/Bob Tuke of course, but who is Mike Padgett?

By the way, next time Wamp is up for re-election, pleeeease defeat him!!
He's a constant embarrassment. He comes across as such a hick. And has his head so far up the Repub leadership's ass, he's chocolate-coated.

edited for formatting.

11. Thanks, we try, we try, MoveOn!!!
We try to get rid of Zach every 2 yrs.! He's like herpes - just can't get rid of him. It doesn't help when I see quotes in The Tennessean where the dems in the delegation state things like, 'he's not so bad', 'we can work with him'. :puke: :puke:

Dear Friends,

I want to let you all know that I have decided to run for the US Senate in Tennessee against Lamar Alexander.

I will bring the energy, focus, purpose and determination of a Marine to this campaign and to my service in the United States Senate.

I am not so much offering myself as a candidate as I again am answering a call to service. America is in crisis. Our economy is in trouble, many of our schools are struggling, our health care system leaves millions uncovered, and there are parts of Tennessee where the hope for good jobs in the future is just a mirage. And in too many places, the cold wind of hunger and poverty whistle through open doors of despair.
Perhaps most critically, we find ourselves in two wars, with enemies lying in wait at home and abroad. Veterans return from war to heal their bodies and their minds only to find a broken system that leaves them without care. I fought in Vietnam as a Marine officer, and I cared for my Marines. I understand the rigors of war and the responsibility of our government to wage it properly and to care for those who fight it and for their families.

I also have devoted a substantial portion of my law practice to helping build families through adoption, so I understand the strain this tough economy is placing on families, especially those already struggling to make ends meet.

My wife Susan and I have built our lives in Tennessee and have been married for nearly 39 years. We raised our children Andrew (27) and Sarah (24) in the traditions of faith, service to country, and belief in the ideals of our dear nation.

If you would like to support me in this effort, as a couple of you have indicated, please use the attached form, as required by FEC Regulations.

Thank you and Semper Fi,
Bob Tuke
