Kerry coming to Nashville....
I have heard from a couple of people that John Kerry will be in Nashville on September 1st at Opryland Hotel to address a group of veterans. Does anyone know of a time or have any further information?

I know the polls are running VERY close here in Tennessee. For awhile, Kerry was even a couple of points ahead of Dipwad. People here are VERY frustrated with dipwad and Kerry would be a VERY welcome change!

4. Actually American Legion...
...I'll be working that day in the Magnolia Lobby. We've asked his people to be on our morning show...so far no answer. Shrub said no.

3. Unsure of time, but he is speaking
It is an annual thing that apparently Dubya is speaking at a day or two before Kerry. This appearance was being talked about nationally because it's the only time he's planning a public speach during the RNC. Everyone in the Davidson Metro area should show up in support. Even if you can't get in to see the speach, your presence will be noted and reported on if there are hundreds (hopefully thousands) outside the hall where he is speaking showing their support.

I can't find any times!! Does anyone know anything yet? I'd like to come out both days (protest Bush & support Kerry) but I have two babies, so probably just one day to support Kerry. Is anyone here going?

6. Kerry...spoke to almost 3,000 at the airport last night
Edited on Wed Sep-01-04 10:20 AM by Tippy
The Tennessean reported this morning, more than 2,000 Democrats turned out last night as he arrived at an aircraft hangar at Nashville International Airport shortly before 10. At first he was to arrive at 7:30 then 9:00....Personaly I believe there were more than 3,000 there...and since there were tickets printed I would think the number passed out will be more consistant with 3,000..

Every time Kerry opened his mouth people went wild....

Kerry referred to the Republican National Convention when he told the crowd: ''It ain't New York where things are going on. It's right here in Nashville.''

Appearing with Kerry was former Ohio Sen. John Glenn. Both were welcomed by an assortment of state and local Democratic leaders, including Gov. Phil Bredesen, Rep. Harold Ford Jr. of Memphis, Nashville Rep. Jim Cooper and Mayor Bill Purcell. Congressmen Gordon...and former Congressman Clement, And a host of Vet's..

Kerry said he had thought about bringing his guitar and playing a bit, but ''I figured you all have suffered enough in the last four years.''

After the speech he began shaking hands...it became a mad house in there...I think I shook his hand but heck it could have been anyone's hand....We didn't make it home until after 1:00 AM...boy were we tired, but happy..

This event was scheduled at the last minute...notice went out by e-mail Monday...9 from Putnam county were able to attend...no Bush people were protesting....in order to get in your had to pick up tickets...Kerry will speak later today at the Opry Land Hotel but not sure what time...

Like I said the event was planned at the last minute...it was held in a hannger at the airport....at first he was to arrive at 7:30...then 9 PM he finally got there around 10:00 the plane taxied to the front of the hanger....
