Senator Frist is holding up the bill to ban Horse Slaughter
Hi all,

The bill to ban horse slaughter for human consumption, S. 1915 is being held up by Senator Frist.

In case you don't know, there are 3 slaughter houses in this country. Two in Texas and one in Illinois, all foreign-owned and all supplying horse meat to Europe and Japan. Not too long ago, a Kentucky Derby winner was slaughtered and sent to Japan - the restaurant advertised: Come dine on a Champion.

The House Bill, HR 503, passed by a large margin to ban horse slaughter in America, and is now being held up by Senator Frist. Most American's want this to end - the horses are dismembered while they are alive and this is just absurd that we are allowing this atrocity to happen to not only our domesticated horses, but we are also sending wild Mustangs to the slaughter houses. It's been called "American's dirty little secret".

If you know anyone else in your State that will do this, please please pass this on. It's so important.

If you need more information: http://www.habitatforhorses.org/whatsnew/S1915.html

Please fax, call and email if you can.

This is Frist's Info:

Web Site: frist.senate.gov
E-mail: Contact Via 'Web Form.'

Washington Office:
509 Hart Senate Office Building
Washington, D.C. 20510-4205
Phone: (202) 224-3344
Fax: (202) 228-1264

Main District Office:
28 White Bridge Rd., #211
Nashville, TN 37205
Phone: (615) 352-9411
Fax: (615) 352-9985

Anything you can do to help would be appreciated. Btw, last year the Senate voted to end this atrocity, but by "official trickery", it continued.

If you need more info, please PM me or reply to this post. If I don't know the answer, I will try to find the info for you.

Sol :)
