THE WHOLE USA
April 11~ Call Senators about supplemental defense appropriation. The President asks $81.9 billion in off-budget Pentagon supplement, mainly for war fighting in Iraq. US troops are trapped by a Big Lie in a kill-or-be-killed environment so far costing 1544 of them their lives — and insuring that thousands of others will never "be all" they could have been. Over 100,000 Iraqi civilians have died due to the invasion. Terrorist recruitment is burgeoning. Child malnutrition exceeds the pre-invasion level. Whole towns are rubble. Depleted uranium dust on every wind curses generations to come with deformed births, cancers, and other medical disasters. Polling of Iraqis consistently results in 80 to 90 percent declaring that US forces should go home ASAP. Contact #s and suggested message are at the end of this email.

SIOUX FALLS
Wednesday, April 14, 7:30 pm ~ Crestwood UCC Church (33rd Street & Cliff Avenue). By special arrangement with the producers, in
conjunction with Traprock Peace Center, Sioux Falls P&J Chapter is privileged to host the premiere United States showing of
The Doctor, the Depleted Uranium, and the Dying Children, a new film by & Frieder Wagner & Valentin Thurn, produced by Ochowa-Film, for German national television. This is the up-to-date DU program you have been waiting for. Bring your friends to view this 53-minute film. It is a powerful CALL TO CONSCIENCE. SDPJC will be permitted to arrange showings to other groups in SD. See details at the end of this email.

THE WHOLE USA
Friday April 15 ~ Income Tax due day. Know what the Empire does with your tax dollars? Know about the 726 (and growing) overseas US military bases? Check your email on Friday.

SIOUX FALLS
Saturday April 16, 12:30-4:45 pm ~ Crestwood UCC, 33rd & Cliff. The public is invited (freewill offering) to an afternoon about "Growing Peace," led by author-teacher Jack Nelson-Pallmeyer, who teaches peace and justice studies at St. Thomas University in Minneapolis. When he started teaching, his introductory course was offered only once a year; now he must offer three sections a semester to fill student demand. Jack is a graduate of St Olaf's College. You might have met him personally if you traveled to Fort Benning in November to the national vigil to close SOA/WHISC. One of his published books is titled Saving Christianity From Empire and Theology. The afternoon is sponsored by Presentation Sisters Social Justice Team and Pax Christi, Southeastern SD Chapter.

Message for Senators: The Administration must commit to withdraw our toxic presence from Iraq, on a timeline to be negotiated with opponents and the sitting government in Iraq. The plan should allow phase-in of internationals to oversee a transition to real Iraqi sovereignty under a Constitution. Pay for the damage. Leave no US bases behind.

The Center can arrange group showing in of The Doctor, the Depleted Uranium and the Dying Children in South Dakota within an April/May time window. Contract with the producers and the US distributor requires us to charge admission of $2 for each viewer. At the Sioux Falls showing, patrons will be found at the showing to cover the cost of admission for those unable to pay. A similar arrangement can be worked out for other venues.
