1. There is one county in South Dakota that is a standout

Shannon County shows up on the county-by-county election map as a bright blue square of unequivocal pro-Kerry voters (by 85%). I was so amazed by that bright blue square, that didn't fade to purple at all, that I had to research who lives there

I discovered that Shannon County's population is primarily Native American (94.2%)

CONCLUSION: Apparently, the Native Americans of Shannon County, in their tribal and generational wisdom, have all seen THIS kind of government before.

3. Blue counties in South Dakota
Actually, the six bluest counties in South Dakota are all Indian reservation Counties, including the one I'm in, (Dewey County on the Cheyenne River Indian Reservation)--and the seventh bluest county in South Dakota is Clay County, which has the highest adult education level in the state.

5. All of South Dakota Blue?? Wow
Our county went Blue in 1992 and 1996 (thanks Bill Clinton!) but
Red in 2000 and 2004.

4. The only civilians I knew when I lived in South Dakota....
...were pagans like me. Everybody else was military. I dare say that aside from my pagan friends, however, the civilian population in Rapid City was actually more conservative than my military friends were, if that tells you anything.
