Progressive Pages- Need your feedback!
I just visited DancingBear's thread about wanting to come up with a directory of Repuke businesses to boycott and provide decent progressive alternatives for folks.

http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=show_mesg&forum=104&topic_id=2587076&mesg_id=2587076&page=

I'd like to help any way I can to compile this book.

Here's what I need from ya'll:

Give me the names and approximate locations of any local SC businesses you saw the last year or so with Bush/Cheney signs outside, behind the counters or in windows. Any "I support President Bush and our troops?" or anything equivalent?

Alternately, provide the names and approximate addresses of progressive or Democratic owned or Democratic-supporting businesses you can recommend instead.

Let us know about good AND bad experiences you've had patronizing good or bad businesses all over the state!

Thanks everybody!
Let's hear em!

1. try this out
this web site:
http://www.fundrace.org/neighbors.php?type=loc&addr=&zip=29063&search=Search

will let you search by zip code and give you all the donations that were made. For instance, Mungo (residential builder from Lexington and past chair of the USC board of trustees) gave $4000 to the RNC and $2000 to Bush.

2. Fudge, you don't know SC. You could count on 1 hand the non-pug businesses
If they were brave enough to prevent themselves publicly.

But, humoring you...

Maurice's barbecue in West Columbia, of course. Crazy ass fundy neo-con-federate.

5. I know chaska. And I sympathize.
Many of our neighbors here have to be in the closet too (Dallas Suburb).

We'll take what we can get, and know that we'll have gaps in the deep south, Montana, Idaho, assorted places.

Thanks for whatever you can give us. It's appreciated!

3. The Capitol Newstand on Main St in Columbia
is Dem.... went there day of or before election and guys working there were wearing Inez T's and had Inez sign in front of place and when I was buying Stewart's America book they were all happy to tell me that that was the #1 book in the nation. Don't have the address at hand but I'm sure you Columbia people know what I'm talking about.

4. You sure that's not just an anti-tax stance?
Maybe they aren't dems but just don't want a 23% tax. Research is in order, methinks.

6. Chaska you are awfully anti-SC
Edited on Fri Nov-12-04 02:11 PM by SCDem
There are good dems in SC business owners, students, attorneys, physicians, IT workers, teachers etc. Yes the Capitol newstand is pro dem and it is not just because of tax issues.

7. I am honestly glad to hear that...
Don't take it personally, but I AM very down on SC. I'm certainly not down on the few good dems there. I feel sorry for SC dems. I know that pain all too well. I'm never going back.

8. I remember
Right down the street in Mt Pleasant there was a big house that the Repubs renting about six weeks before the ill fated day on Nov.2 2004. I remember thinking they must be generating all kinds of dollars to rent a whole big ass house.
In sc we are really screwed. With the exception of Jim Clyburn the democrats are not represented well in DC. We have a repub Gov Sanford, Lindsey Graham who is on tv every freaking second a damn embarrassment to the state, and now DeMint! oh well...duped again!

9. We also have Spratt
I know that is still not much... but he is a great Rep for the Dems to have with his knowledge on the enormous debt our nation has and all.
