SC unemployment rises to 6.7% in March
http://www.wistv.com/Global/story.asp?S=1810020

(Columbia-AP) April 23, 2004 - South Carolina's unemployment rate rose to 6.7 percent last month, the sixth highest in the nation, even though the state added more than 18,000 new jobs.

The Palmetto State's rate was higher only than Washington, DC, and Michigan (both 6.9 percent), Alaska (7.1), Oregon (7.2) and Puerto Rico (11.7), according to the Department of Labor's Bureau of Labor and Statistics.

The national rate in March was 5.7 percent, up from 5.4 percent the month before. The Employment Security Commission says the rate last month increased from 6.3 percent in February, which was the fourth highest rate of unemployment in the nation.

The commission blamed the increase on seasonal factors.

2. That's weird
I live in NC and we just had reported that unemployment had fallen to 5.2% and it was the first time in years that we were better than the national average.

I wonder what's so different between NC and SC?

4. Sadly, you're right
Most of the folks who've lost their jobs due to outsourcing will still vote for Bush in November. They just don't get it.
