Remember the summers of 1986 and 1988? In Columbia we had temps

of 106, 108, etc. One hundred plus day after day.

Compared to that, recent summers seem mild.

I believe there is global warming, or climate change, if you will. And our SC winters are milder now than when I was a kid.

Maybe those years (86 and 88) it was just our turn to have a real hot summer. As it seems to be the American West's turn this year.

1. Last summer was not mild here in Charleston.
We had a three-day period during which we were under a heat warning that lasted until late into the evening each night. If I recall, that was mid-July and the rest of that month and August saw very hot weather.

I've actually taken the approach of ignoring weather forecasts. It's hot enough without having to listen to people talking about how hot it's going to be. I'd rather not think about it as I go through my day. I really, really don't do well in extreme heat. My exception to the Ignore The Forecast rule is immediate severe storm warnings and of course I'll pay attention should we have any tropical threats.

how we get used to the heat. always answer, you never really do.
laughed real hard when a penn stater was talking about those "torrid 85 degree days" where he was from.
