Got a potential offer for matching $$
Edited on Thu May-13-04 11:30 AM by rabid_nerd
Scenario:
- Our incumbent R state house member took office winning by double digits (less than 100 votes) in 1992. No real challenge since.

- He only has $5K in the bank, refuses PACs, won through a scandal (not on issues) and promised to only serve 12 years, but is breaking that promise.

- We have a "first responder" - the oldest active firefighter in the county - as our candidate. Strongest candidate and most determined I've seen. Alan Henry..

- We got him a write-in victory which hasn't hit the papers yet. The papers say the other guy is "running unopposed". So there's no active fundraising for this guy. The reason for the write-in? Late start on petitions. PA had alot of that this year. We did get the 300 write-ins, however.

- We have an offer for matching donations we get in May.

- It's the district containing historic Gettysburg, PA - Lincoln's "Gettysburg Address", Civil War, etc. What better way to annoy Republicans than by a suprise upset here?

- If we get to $2K this month - 2K! - we would make BIG, ENORMOUS waves in the media, and have a legitimizing base to keep fundraising from. This can be easily attained through matching funds

- No contribution limits or limits on state residency for non-federal candidates in PA

- I am giving $50 a week from tomorrow.

AFTER you donate to DU, if you like making "safe" Republicans squirm and freak out,

My email is admin@7-10.com

(My state Senate Candidate, Don Richards, was just endorsed by Four States for Democracy (was "for Dean"), and they (Richards and Henry) have agreed to run as a ticket)

(If you click through to his website, you'll notice "Paid for by Herb Riede" on his yet-to-be-developed site, as I own LeftWeb.com and do a LOT of pro-bono Dem party work)
