Santorum on KDKA 11PM News
Edited on Thu Nov-18-04 11:12 PM by Dr Batsen D Belfry
When confronted about his kids at the W. PA Cyber Charter School

"I'm going to do what is best for my family, and if the taxpayers don't like it they can show their displeasure in the next election"

Un-frigging-believable. This guy has some serious balls. Almost like saying "Mission Accomplished"

20. Why wait? Start a recall petition
That's what the California GOP did to oust Gray Davis (and Sanitarium is twenty times WORSE than Davis).

9. I hear Charlie Stenholm is available seeing how Delay screwed him over
If we can't talk him into moving to Oregon to run against Greg Walden, maybe he'd like PA better.

13. Not a carpertbagger in his case, a refuggee from facism more like it
anyways, that's a dumb argument, it's the one the idiot rethugs used on Hillary, and see what a great senator she is.

Nope, in our case, it's sharing out the best Dems, who if they were screwed over by the rethugs, proves they must have been the best otherwise why go after them.

14. Are you aware of what happened in the Lehigh Valley this year?
There was an open Congressional seat. The Democrats had a fantastic candidate for the position. He was young, he was a good ideological match for the district, and he raised a ton of money. Despite that fact that there are more Democrats than Republicans in the district he lost 59%-39%. This was a district that Kerry won. His opponent continually slammed him as a carpetbagger and it worked. Pennsylvania is much different state than New York.

15. But, think of the ads Charlie can run
"I have escape the Republican machine, I have found solace in the hearts of PA, I want to fight for you to pay back the good people who have given me hope"

If he moves there now, he has time to grow roots.

It's a great story, and will appeal to people.

we are in pretty bad shape. This is a job that we don't need to outsource.

6. Perhaps the Santorums get their mail forwarded
I think we need a coordinated mailing campaign of Walmart applications sent to his home. Very apropos since he has helped Walmart become the largest employer in his state.

Remember the Ohio State Sec. of State mixing it up with some critics and replied (paraphasing) "I don't care what you think -- look at Katherine Harris -- it didn't hurt her any."

8. Now the school is offering his kids free education
http://www.post-gazette.com/pg/04324/414263.stm

Five of U.S. Sen. Rick Santorum's children will no longer attend a cyber charter school at the expense of the Penn Hills School District, but the cyber school's teachers have offered to donate their services so the children's education is uninterrupted.

<snip>

The cyber school responded yesterday by saying that teachers are willing to donate their time to the children. The Santorums, though, would have to pay for computers, Internet access and material. There was no immediate response from the Santorums.

Nick Trombetta, chief executive officer of the cyber charter school, said the school "stands behind the Santorum children.''

He said, "This is not about politics or special treatment. This is about going to bat for our students, something we do every day for every child enrolled in our school.''

<snip>

And here's the quote his '06 opponent needs to blast across the state.

"I'm going to do what's best for my family. If people don't like it, then they have an opportunity in a couple of years to show their displeasure,'' he said.

18. Here's a Thought
If he wants to keep his kids in the cyber school then he pay for it himself.

This is unbelievable.

I've said it before. Having a Senator not live in your state full time is one thing if you're in Alaska or Hawaii, or really any west coast state. The commute would be hell, and you'd never see your family. You should still maintain a real residence though in the state, and go back there for Thanksgiving, or Christmas etc.

Having a Senator who could live like an hour away in his actual state but not do so is insane. How long is the drive from Gettysburg to D.C. Like an hour? HOur and a half. He could freaking live in the state if he wanted to.

Thats the thing that really upsets me.
