District Attorney Seizes More Financial Records From Poconos Township
Edited on Tue Oct-11-11 07:21 AM by JPZenger
The saga of Middle Smithfield Township Monroe County continues. Two of the supervisors have been conspiring for the last 2 years to make sure a strip club gets built on the land of one of those supervisors (Spano) - including repeatedly weakening the zoning to make it easier to build. That supervisor (Spano) was taken away in handcuffs and charged with a felony for an illegal vote on the strip club.

Now, the District Attorney has seized a second set of financial records from the Township. These records relate to how the Township took over a luxury golf course and then managed to lose hundreds of thousands of dollars on it within a few months. One of the supervisor's girlfriend was put in charge of the finances of the golf course when it was acquired. (The FBI is also investigating a possible felony that Spano lied that he was married to that girlfriend, in order to put her on Township health insurance before she was hired).

It also was recently revealed that the supervisors conspired to prevent a township resident from getting a zoning permit to operate a recreation park that is open to the public. If that permit had been approved, it would have stopped the strip club under zoning regulations because of its proximity to the strip club.
