Pledge of Allegiance a prop for politician? (Trib Review Calls out Tim Murphy)
Wow - my mouth dropped open to see the Trib Review of all papers to call him out! Wow - good on Eric Heyl & the Trib. It's rare I praise Scaife's rag. And also kudos to Robert Mangino of KDKA radio who also saw through this last night. Piss on Marty Griffin of KDKA who beat unmercifully on the LWV & was obnoxious to Arlene of the League who tried to explain their position to him.

-----

Murphy, Connolly and a League of Woman Voters moderator were onstage about to begin the debate when Murphy asked if the pledge would be recited.

The moderator, obviously caught off guard, didn't immediately respond affirmatively. So both candidates and the crowd rose to profess the oath of loyalty.

Seemingly satisfied that no subversives had crashed the event, everyone then sat down.

Murphy's inquiry appeared to lack spontaneity. The pledge uttered in the auditorium followed by about 24 hours Glenn Beck's show on the Fox News Channel that aired a similar scene.

3. OMG....This must be a ploy all across the Tea Party because..I'm in suburban Chicago and
our tea party asshole, Joe Walsh -- who is neck and neck with the dem incumbent and still counting votes, by the way -- did the VERY same thing at OUR League of Women Voters Debate!

It was astounding...The debate had three candidates -- Democratic Melissa Bean, Green Party Bill Scheur, and Tea Party Asshat, Joe Walsh.

The moderator of the League gave the usual preliminaries and then was asked by a member of the audience if they would be saying the pledge of allegiance...She said "no, because we don't usually do that" and at THAT moment almost the ENTIRE audience rose to its feet (not me) and defiantly recited the Pledge...It certainly seemed "orchestrated" and the Dem county chair later told me she could actually see the asshat hissing at the crowd "Now..Now"!

I'll have to report this to her, and hopefully it will inform you and other dem activists across the country.

Seeing it happened here, in PA..My home state, btw, it certainly sounds like it's part of the Tea Parties "national strategy".

It was amazing..After their defiant "pledge"..The moderator scolded them mildly for not "respecting the rules" telling them it was "no disrespect to the flag, just not part of what they do, etc. and she was BOOED by some....Later, the woman reported to the local paper (and the FBI) that she'd received DEATH Threats...for "not appearing enthusiastic about saying the Pledge".

This has got to be part of their MO...Pass it along.
