Lancaster County, PA, has traditionally been a Republican stronghold. But over the past few years, Dems. have been registering more voters, finding better candidates, winning races they "were never supposed to win." I think Ms. Lyall will do a great job; she's responsible for organizing all the volunteers that have helped Dems. do so well in the last few elections.

Pledging to further galvanize the party's grass roots and increase voter turnout, Sally Lyall was elected to a four-year term as chairwoman of the Lancaster County Democratic Committee, Saturday.

... The meeting also marked the end of Bruce Beardsley's eight-year tenure as chairman, during which the party more than doubled its number of committee people and topped the 100,000 mark in registered voters.

Lyall said her focus will be on expanding training for committee people, recruiting candidates earlier in the election cycle, working with other county Democratic chairmen, and ramping up fundraising.
