Regola reportedly will end re-election bid
Westmoreland County GOP officials scrambled to address reports that state Sen. Bob Regola of Hempfield will end his re-election bid Monday.

Citing unnamed sources, Capitolwire, a Harrisburg-based online news service, reported Friday that Regola is expected to withdraw as a candidate because recent polls showed he is trailing Democratic challenger Tony Bompiani and cannot defeat him. The news service reported Regola's close friend and GOP ally, Senate President Pro Tem Joe Scarnati of Jefferson County, determined that even a campaign budget of $1 million could not secure a November victory.

Monday is the deadline for candidates to withdraw from the November ballot.

Regola was acquitted in July on a count of perjury and a weapons charge in connection with a state police investigation into the July 2006 death of his 14-year-old neighbor, Louis Farrell, who died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound. The bullet was fired from a gun owned by the senator.

Hope this is true!

...Tony Bompiani to retake the seat and return it to the D column. But no matter what happens yes at least that slimebag will be gone.

He'll probably go back to being an "engineer" (which his is NOT, he's a Land Surveyor) and ruining people's lives and property. He ruined things for my mother and me when he flooded our three-generation family farm with stormwater runoff back in the early 1990's. The "holding pond" designed by Regola and his father never held anything; water ran in one end and out the other and ripped our farm downstream in two. The developer Regola worked for turned the case over to his business insurance CNA and they have been stalling since 1994 -- it is STILL not settled!

3. Good riddance to bad rubbish.
And good luck to the Farrell family on their civil suit.

The slimeball wants his court records expunged which would severely hamper their suit.
