Portland, OR - John Kerry Day. We're out there already!
Edited on Fri Aug-13-04 07:48 AM by swag
Saw news footage of Alexandra Kerry and Leonardo DiCaprio pushing environmental responsibility and jazzing up the young voters down town last night. As of 5 a.m., Rallyers and Volunteers had started to gather down by the river. It's going to be a gorgeous day and people are very excited.

Yesterday on my lunch walk I got hailed by a couple of on-break restaurant workers I have met before - hostess and a waitress at this swank joint downtown. "Hey, John Kerry button! Great! Are you going tomorrow? Are you?" Had never talked politics with either of these young women before, and it turns out that they're both dialed in and excited.

Got to my much less swanky lunch restaurant and all the waitrons wanted to talk about the rally and John Kerry. Even the east-county Harley chick who has been reticent in the past was getting in on the convo. Then we all laughed at Bush hiding out in Beaverton at a secret location with his big donors at his little "ask the President" session, then heading up to Port of Portland to proclaim "Dredge the Columbia!" day. What an asshole! It is time for him to go!

Anyway, it's going to be a great day, my wife and her mom are going to the Kerry rally, and I will drag a TV into my office to follow along.

Have a great time, and if you're hungry after the rally and you're a hot-dog eater, don't forget KPOJ AM 620 Air America sponsors at 4th & Morrison: Wynn's Hot Dogs.

I haven't been this excited since the Jon Spencer Blues Explosion came to town.

2. Way more than 25,000
I was there, and I'd have to say closer to 40,000. The fire marshall closed the gates about an hour before Kerry spoke, and I'd say that there were about 10,000 people who did not get in. Fantastic!
