Impeachment protest, anyone?
Anyone interested? Here's what I got for Portland from A28:

Portland

South Side DFA MeetUp group of Portland OR will loft its giant "Impeach Bush and Cheney" balloon on the Willamette River's East Side Esplanade where it can be seen by motorists on a major West Coast highway (I-5), a major state highway (E-99), downtown Portland traffic, and that crossing 2 of our 11 bridges (Hawthorne and Morrison boulevards). We're also going to have tables available for literature on impeachment (bumper stickers, etc.) and other issues. Noon-4PM Contact barbaragellis@earthlink.net or 503-235-2572.

Also: Code Pink Portland and the Surge Protection Brigade join together with groups across the nation to demand impeachment of Bush and Cheney. Saturday, April 28 from 11 a.m. to 1 P.M. at Pioneer Courthouse Square. Bring signs, chants, and/or pink umbrellas. Hope to see you there.

There's an anti-war vigil every Saturday near Lloyd Center, 11 am-1 pm. COME THIS SATURDAY 4/28 and bring impeachment banners, etc., to 13th and NE Multnomah, one block north of the Lloyd Center MAX station. I'm not a "leader" but you can e me at choppedliver (at) hotmail.com

4. It wasn't really a protest.
I rode my bike over to the Esplanade, and there was a group of little old ladies holding up signs and providing educational literature. When I was there, a mom and her kid were standing at the table. I suspect the kid was a 5th or 6th grader, and he was totally into it! How cool is that?

So I picked up some literature and some things to send off to John Conyers. I asked her if we should talk to our reps as well, and one of the grannies said it probably wasn't worth it, as they have all pooh-poohed the idea of impeachment. She said it was the Judiciary Committee that mattered.

There was also a group on the Hawthorne Bridge holding up a big bedsheet sign. They got lots of honks!
