New Voices, Old Friends and KPOJ Becomes the Flagship・on Monday, April 9th!

The evolution of the AM 620 KPOJ program line-up continues! Beginning Monday, KPOJ welcomes Carl Wolfson to the Morning Show, 6am-9am! You'll still hear Thom and Heidi, but now you'll get Carl's wit and wisdom backed up by years of progressive political activism and a quarter-of-a-century of stand-up comedy. Now that Carl is joining the Morning Show, we can begin airing Thom Hartmann ・Nationwide・live from the Portland flagship station 9am-to-Noon! Ed Schultz continues Noon-3pm, Randi Rhodes 3pm-6pm and Sam Seder 6pm-9pm. Also on Monday, KPOJ welcomes back and old friend. It's Mike Malloy from 9pm-to-Midnight! To those of you who showed us your patience, we say Thank You!・nbsp; And stay tuned, because we just may have a few more surprises.

2. 6 straight hours of Thom Hartmann?

What are they thinking? I wish they'd put Rachel Maddow on at a decent hour, Mark Riley, too. And the Young Turks are virtually unlistenable to these ears.

3. This is good, it brings in more live radio instead of the inexcusable reruns

6 hours straight of Thom *may* be too much, but I suspect KPOJ is grooming Carl to take the primary slot, and Thom may end up as more of a regular guest than the show host. Which is fine by me -- his strengths are really the national-level issues with a historical perspective. Sam Seder's show is really the odd-man-out, since it's getting shifted over by 12 hours. The natural answer, if you want to maximize live content, would be to move the local show (live) to the 6-9 slot, and put Sam Seder on in the morning. Malloy rebroadcast is okay, I think he plays better at 6-9 than in the commuter slots.

Oh, and dump Ed too, he fluctuates between irrelevant and boring, if I wanted to listen to a limpball voice talk about mid-western sports teams, huntin' 'n fishin', I'd stream a Wisconsin sports station.

5. Update: Some changes after Sam's cancellation

When we asked you to stay tuned for a few more surprises during the KPOJ program line-up evolution, we did not expect Air America to surprise US with the cancellation of “The Sam Seder Show!” Sam is one of the original Progressive Talk Hosts on KPOJ and has had a very successful 3 year run! The final weekday Sam Seder broadcast will air this Friday evening at 6pm. All of us at AM 620 KPOJ wish Sam the best, and who knows, we may hear from him again someday! To accommodate the loss of Sam,
Rachel Maddow and Mike Malloy will shift timeslots. We also welcome Jon Elliott to late nights. So, once again, stay tuned for the on-going evolution of AM 620 KPOJ!
