Tie everything down - there's a bit of wind headed in...
Expires 11:45 PM EST on November 12, 2006

Statement as of 12:34 PM PST on November 12, 2006

... High Wind Warning in effect from 10 PM this evening to 4 am
PST Monday lower Columbia... greater Portland Metro area...
central Willamette Valley... northern Oregon Cascade
foothills... I-5 corridor in Cowlitz County... Greater Vancouver
area and South Washington Cascade foothills...

The National Weather Service in Portland has issued a High Wind
Warning... which is in effect from 10 PM this evening to 4 am PST
Monday. The high wind watch is no longer in effect.

A deepening low pressure area offshore will move closer to the north
Oregon coast this afternoon... then move across Washington tonight.
South winds of 30 to 35 mph with gusts 55 to 60 mph are expected
tonight. These potential strong winds over the inland valleys and
foothills of southwest Washington and northwest Oregon are
expected to develop around 10 mph but could occur sooner if the
low speeds up.

A High Wind Warning means a hazardous high wind event is expected
or occurring. Sustained wind speeds of at least 40 mph or gusts
of 58 mph or more can lead to falling trees and branches and
property damage.
