1. I got a lot of info from Willy Week, though I didn't vote down the line with them:

4. two in particular
41 and 48. (No on both.)

41: Sponsored by Sizemore... need I say more? A tiny amount of money back in taxes but way before you get that money you will see the cuts in education, health care, public safety, etc.

48: Colorado tried it. It ended up destroying their ability to provide education, police, firefighters, vaccines to low-income children, etc.

I'm out canvassing every single spare minute I have to get those two measures defeated (and last I checked, the people I'm doing it with could really use some help- msg me for info.)

I personally feel 40 would be bad if it passed. Elected officials should be held accountable to ALL the people who are affected by the decisions they make, so Oregon Supreme Court Judges should be elected by ALL the voters of Oregon, not just the district they live in.

42 is a good measure and should be approved. I read the study that showed the correlation between credit score and insurance claims and found that correlation to be weak at best. I'm voting for it.

Summary:
40: No
41: No
48: No

42: Yes

5. 44: Yes - prescription drug
It just expands the program we already have. I would think more participants would decrease the cost of the drugs which would actually be a savings to those enrolled now. But it's not a new program so there shouldn't be any expense to implement it.

6. I voted for "44 and no more"
One yes vote -- for 44 (prescription drugs). The rest, No. The only ones I went back and forth about were 46 and 47, the campaign reforms, but in the end voted No.

7. Not on 42??
It is not fair that people pay more for car insurance because of a credit score. It should be on driving records and accidents and nothing more. Oh gads, why???

but it is sponsored by Bill Sizemore so I won't support it either.

9. I know. I saw Sizemore's name and that was all I needed to know ...
But, also, liberal groups that I respect also advised voting against it.

10. Well that's ridiculous
Thank you very much for making poor people suffer because Bill Sizemore is an ass. He got something right for a change.

12. Hey wait a minute
I happen to be a poor person whose credit sucks BUT I have an excellent driving record. I have dirt cheap insurance based solely on my driving record. I have been insured with other companies in the state of Oregon who did not use my credit score to determine my rates. Oregon already has tight laws prohibiting the use of credit scores for determining insurance rates.

And since when does Sizemore care about poor people??

14. This expands it to new customers
The laws are not as tight as you think. Other poor people are subsidizing your low rates.

Who said Sizemore cared about poor people? I think it's stupid that people would vote no on a perfectly good law just to get back at an idiot.

16. No one is subsidizing my low rates
I am insured by a co. that ONLY insures good drivers, they do not take credit scores in consideration and your driving record has to be nearly spottless to get insured by them. They never looked at my credit score when I was a new customer either.

15. Well, like I said, groups I respect researched it and advised a "no" vote.
So I figured they'd concluded it would have unintended bad consequences, etc.

11. Well, I have to admit...
That I have no clue about Bill Sizemore. I've heard his name mentioned here before, but I'm military stationed outside of Oregon, and I miss all of the good gossip.

I voted to keep insurance companies from using credit scores. I certainly wouldn't mind if the credit reporting bureaus made less money; it's not like they provide an accurate view of my credit anyway (I'm always finding errors on the reports). Basically, I voted the way I did after reading the measure, rather than because an unpopular person supports it.

So, who is Bill Sizemore, anyway?

18. I think Sizemore himself has a lousy credit rating these days
Edited on Mon Nov-06-06 11:12 PM by 0rganism
Sizemore's got a full load of debts and court settlements to pay off. That's the only reason I could think of for him, of all people, to be working on such a measure.

Still, he gets some respect from me for putting forth the only really tough decision in the package this time around.
