Expert Warns Of Oregon Tsunami Dangers

SEATTLE - A computer model at the University of Rhode Island indicates that a tsunami off the Northwest could generate waves on the coast of Washington and Oregon as high as 98 feet.

Vacily Titov of the NOAA says waves three times higher than current evacuation plans anticipate is possible if a large quake struck the active fault off the Oregon coast.

How far inland are these supposed to reach?

2. The danger to PDX and the valley and east would be from the 9+ quake

that would generate the giant waves. Most downtown buildings aren't designed to survive that kind of a jolt.


Hmmmm.... Think I'm gonna work harder on that telecommuting plan I've been talking about....
