You knew it was coming: $3 gas arrives in Bend, Oregon
You knew it was coming: $3 gas arrives in Bend, Oregon

By KATU Web Staff
The pain in the wallets of Bend drivers just got a little worse.

A Chevron gas station on highway 97 near O.B. Riley Road has posted supreme unleaded for $3.01 per gallon.

Or $3.01.9 if you do the math the way the gas companies think.

While outlying gas stations far from large cities typically ad a bit of a premium to their prices, it is the first time the KATU web staff has seen it that expensive near a major population area.

:(
hang on tight, folks.

2. Might this have something to do with the fact...
Bend is not on the I-5 corridor? Regardless, it was inevitable.

3. We're not far behind you, Viva.
We're in Lake Oswego, and the prices are 2.78 for regular. I think in Vancouver WA prices have gone over $3.00.

I think it's tougher for you guys because there are some pretty big distances between, say, Redmond, La Pine, Sunriver and all those places. You have to drive so much further to get anywhere.

Here in LO, we're just a couple of miles from everything. And believe me, it's going to stay that way.

Good luck to you:smoke:

:hi:

I don't have a car - got rid of the money sucker 3 years ago, so I couldn't tell you what the prices are here today.

4. Might want to change your town's name to "Bendover" Oregon...
kidding of course, but you are only the first... I am sure we will all be enjoying Dom Perrione (sp) type fuel before it is all over.

12. Hypothetical question for you folks in Bend.
Say, you're so fed-up you want to leave
the country. Say you're from the East Coast,
a place like... Cape Cod, for instance.

Lets say you have a couple of draft-age boys. Both raised
peaceful, the youngest just started college, and the
oldest is still searching...

And perhaps your husband might own a bicycle store and you yourself
are a RN with lots of critical care experience.

You both can still mountain-bike like a wild-one.
AND would Love to learn how to surf.

But you just can't afford the "peace of heaven" place that
you have lived in all your life, and are working your
ass off to keep.

What would YOU do??????

Move to Bend, Oregon, or somewhere in the Central Pacific
say,,, Costa Rica??????

just wondering...
