National Journal reports on Ohio Senate race
17. OHIO
Mike DeWine (R)
Last ranking: 22
There's something going on in this state, and it's not pretty if you're a Republican. The scandal plaguing Ohio has nothing to do with DeWine, yet we can see a scenario where elected officials running in 2006 with an "(R)" next to their names are in big trouble. Democrats are still searching for someone to challenge DeWine, which is why this seat is still low on our rankings. But if either former Attorney General Lee Fisher or former Rep. Dennis Eckart runs, expect this race to move up.

1. I read that article,
and it's scary to think that Maryland is in play.

But, like it said, Democrats in Ohio (and elsewhere) might benefit solely because they're not Republicans.

2. Maryland's really not in play
Chuck Todd missOVERestimates Michael Steele. Mfume would be a terrific candidate except it seems he had zipper problems at the NAACP and is having fundraising trouble, so Ben Cardin will probably be the nominee. Unless he runs an awful campaign, I have a tough time seeing him losing to Steele.

3. ZZZzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz
Both candidates are way out of date. We need someone new, preferably a woman.
