Is Bob Ney on a House committe involving Casinos?
I wrote about Bob Ney (R-OH) on my blog today at:
http://www.moveleft.com/moveleft_essay_2005_05_19_greed_gone_wild_bob_ney_accepted_a_bribe.asp

and I was wondering what House committees deal with casinos and is he on one of them?

1. His committe memberships are listed here
but his position as Tom Delays "whipping boy" (Deputy Whip) is his tie to Abramoff and the Indian gaming scandals.

2. Ney is Chair of House Admin.
As Chair of House Administration Committee Ney oversees election and voting issues. Ney's involvement with the Tigua Indian tribe and super-lobbyist Jack Abramoff stems from Abramoff successfully lobbying Ney in 2003 to slip in a casino re-opening provision into a bill on election reform. The re-opening provision was inserted as a benefit to the Tigua Indian tribe, a client of Abramoff's. It should come as no suprise to all of us that the Tigua Indian tribe donated over $30,000 to Ney and Ney's PAC in 2004. It should also be noted that prior to the tribe's donation, Ney did not operate a PAC - he set up his PAC just in time to accept the tribe's large donation.

I'll plug our website since it is relevant in this case: check out www.ohiodems.org for more information on Ney. We're currently working on a letter-writing project to local newspapers with our county parties regarding Ney and his ethical lapses (including accepting two trips to Scotland to play golf on Abramoff's dime and a 2003 trip to London to gamble and meet with a Syrian-born businessman who sought Ney's help in selling aircraft in the Middle East).

that the casino legislation was in an election-bill?
