This Is An E-Mail Message From Patrick Foster (sent 5/26/04)

Good Evening Hamilton County (and beyond) for Kerry:

What a week! For those of you that were unable to come on Monday evening I think that all those that were there will agree it was absolutely amazing. We signed up 259 volunteers, yes 259, and that number continues to climb as calls and people flood into the office. 13 of those volunteers that signed up on Monday were in the office today and we got so much done from letters to the editors to web site design to data entry. But we can never have enough people involved in this effort so those that couldn't attend this is how to get involved:

I have attached all the critical information from the meeting. There are four main things you need to know:

I. Office Contact Info
615 Main St., 2nd Floor
Cincinnati, OH 45202
Kerry Line: 513 421-2410
Fax: 513 421-0757
pfoster@johnkerry.com

II. Sign In sheet (attached)
Note To DU'ers -- E-mail Patrick to get the Sign In Sheet or PM me

* This one sheet is the key to everything, if you do nothing else in response to this email, get this info back to me
* We are going to set up a grassroots volunteer committee system with 12 volunteer committees based around different volunteer activities
* If you want to volunteer you need to get this information back to me in one of three ways: 1) Print it out, fill it out and fax it to 513 421 0757 2) Fill it out and drop it by the office 3) Send back the pertinent information in the body of an email i.e. Contact info, constituency groups, activity preference, etc.
* Also attached is a description of what all the different volunteer committees (choices of activity preference) entail followed by a description of what a volunteer committee chairperson and precinct captain are. Also attached is a description of what hosting a house party entails.

III. Upcoming Visibilities:

We are going to be doing visibilities (honk and waves) at the following locations next week. If you want to join in on the fun, call or email me.

Calhoun and Clifton
Tuesday June 1st 8AM to 8:45AM
Wednesday June 2nd 5PM to 5:45PM

Madison and Edwards
Thursday June 3rd 8AM to 8:45AM
Friday June 4th 5PM to 5:45PM

Hyde Park Square
Tuesday June 1st 8AM to 8:45AM
Thursday June 3rd 5PM to 5:45PM

Also we are going to have a sign making party at Headquarters this Saturday, May 29th, at 10AM to make signs for the visibilities. We already have 20 people signed up so it is going to be a fun time. Bring posterboard and markers!

IV. Next Meeting

June 21st, 7pm
Letter Carriers Hall, 4100 Colerain Ave.
(Hopefully we will start having subcommittee meetings before them)

Three more quick notes:

Anyone going to a Meet-Up tomorrow night, please print out some of the attached material (especially the sign up sheets) and take them to get filled out and returned. Unfortunately I can only attend one since they are at the same time.

We are looking for marchers for the Milford Frontiers Day Parade on June 3rd, especially vets. The line up is from 4:30 to 5:30 behind Wendy's on Lila. This parade is televised so we want to have a strong showing. If you are interested or have questions email Paul Davis at quest4pce@yahoo.com

And last, A note from Tim Burke on the June 15th fundraiser in Cincinnati:

Senator John Kerry is coming to Cincinnati on June 15th for a major fund- raising luncheon.

This is going to be an extraordinarily expensive campaign. President Bush has already raised more money than any candidate for President in history. John Kerry has done remarkably well on the fund-raising front, but trails the President substantially in cash on hand. Southwestern Ohio is going to help close that gap on June 15th.

The Kerry for President Campaign hopes to raise $500,000.00 at a luncheon on the Sheraton (Millennium) Hotel. Tickets are $1,000 per seat. Sure, that is a lot of money and many Democrats and strong Kerry supporter cannot afford to write a check in that amount.

But, here is a way to help. What some Democrats are doing for this event is holding house parties raising money for Kerry for President from groups or smaller donors. For every $1,000 raised at a house party or individual solicitations, when the proceeds are turned in to the Luncheon Committee, a seat will be made available to the luncheon. Remember that all donations to the Kerry Campaign should be made by check with the checks made out to Kerry for President. The Campaign needs the name, address, telephone number, employer and occupation for each donor in order to comply with Campaign Finance Reporting requirements.

Individuals can give a maximum of $2,000 " couples, $4,000 " to the Kerry Campaign. Under new Campaign Finance Law, all private contributions to the Kerry Campaign must be received by the date that he formally accepts the nomination of the Democratic Party for President of the United States. That is currently scheduled to occur on the last day of the Democratic Convention. So, the Cincinnati Kerry Luncheon will be the only time that Southwestern Ohio will have the opportunity to attend a fund-raiser with the Senator during this campaign.

The campaign is still looking for sponsors for the event. Sponsors will be listed on the formal invitation and will be invited to attend a private pre-lunch reception. Sponsors must raise at least $10,000. If you can help with that, we need to hear from you.

If you are interested in additional details on the event or need to know where to send contributions, or would like to be a sponsor for the event, please contact Tim Burke at tburke@manleyburke.com.

Thanks for reading all of that, I promise emails won't always be this long!

-Patrick

I can't stand it! I'm just waiting for the cicada's to subside so I can start canvassing neighborhoods in my area. Pesky little devils -- just like Republicans!

3. Good comparison.
Repukes and cicadas -- they get in our hair and make lots of noise. Hopefully we can get rid of them both, real soon.
