God in Government Documentary Viewing
I found out about this in my church bulletin, and wanted to pass it along to any of you who might be in the central Ohio area

Please join us for a thought provoking evening as the Shepherd Initiative presents: God in Government.

God in Government is a one hour documentary that explores the complex relationship between religion and politics in the contemporary world with the United States as the focal point. The film asks some fundamental questions such as: What are the consequences when religion and politics become intertwined? What are the fault lines along which tensions and conflicts occur? And what is the appropriate relationship between ‘church’ and state in a modern society?

Location: The Arena Grand Theatre 175 West Nationwide Blvd. (Across from Nationwide Arena) http://www.arenagrand.com/

Showing: Tuesday, May 24, 2005 at 7 p.m.

1. Saw it.
It was great.

I liked it so much that I voted to receive it as my gift for donating to Free Speech TV.

2. My letter from SoS re Ohio Restoration Project
I recently wrote Blackwell's and Petro's offices re the Ohio Restoration Project. The Secretary's May 5th reply follows.

Dear Mr. Burik:

You sent an email to this office concerned about the use of the state flag, seal and statehouse photo by the Ohio Restoration Project.

While I appreciate your concerns, unfortunately there is nothing within the jurisdiction of the Secretary of State's office relative to this issue.

You mentioned that the project may be sidestepping state, federal and IRS regulations.

The Secretary of State has jurisdiction over the state's election process and incorporation process. However, we have nothing to do with exemptions from tax regulations afforded to nonprofit organizations or the commingling of church and state issues. Therefore, we are unable to address your concerns.

You might wish to contact the state Department of Taxation or the federal Internal Revenue Service. I'm sorry I can't be of any additional help to you about the issue you raise.

If you have any questions, I can be reached at 614-466-2585.

Sincerely,
Judith A. Hoffman
Chief Elections Counsel

I'm still awaiting the AG's reply.
