Ohio Folks - Give advice to visiting Maryland campaigner...
We are driving over from Maryland tomorrow night and will be doing a little freeway blogging. We have 3 big signs for freeway overpasses and 30 small signs for telephone poles.

PLease give me any advice you can on the best place to place these signs to have the best impact. We'd prefer to try to stay on the eastern half of the state.

Little help?

Where in the North West are you?

I'm origionaly from central Ohio, and I live in SF California now, but I'm back in Ohio for the election - working here in Seneca County to GOTV and win this thing for John Kerry.

4. Try I-70
Anywhere along the crossing into WV. Lots of traffic going between Columbus and Pittsburgh that also passes right through WV (Wheeling). A chance to influence the voters of three important states.

If you go a little more west into Columbus they have on "outerbelt" that circles the city that is heavily used.

If you choose to go north, the most productive for GOTV would probably be the Akron-Canton area. If you haven't seen Canton during this election cycle you aren't paying attention. A chance to remind the layed off workers in NE Ohio to vote!

5. I agree I-70 to I-77
Go north or south on I-77. This is the Appalachian swing area of the state. Your help is needed in all these areas. Canton (Stark Co.) is a key, but don't overlook the smaller counties. We are not getting as much visibility as Stark; but are just as important.

6. Thanks for the help, guys!
Your advice is much appreciated. We decided to hit around the intersection of 70 and 77 and eastward toward WVA. Originially we were thinking NE, but I think you are exactly right about the potential of influencing people from 3 states further south.

I'll let you know how it goes.
Keep fighting!!!

8. I agree, HEAVIEST between State Route 256 and Dowtown
Edited on Sat Oct-23-04 06:29 PM by mtnester
I would suggest 70 WB at 270 just west of Brice Road...you would probably get a gazillion people from what, about 9 counties and Appalachia?

Another suggestion is the new interchange on State Route 33 to Columbus at Hill/Diley...TONS of commuters from Appalachia, MANY from West Virginia and another 9-10 Ohio counties cause their ain't no jobs in Meigs county people!

9. Well I did it...
On Saturday night we went and put up small signs on the off ramps of the I-70. We started 2 exits after 77 and continued on for 10-11 exits, then turned around and did the opposite exits. We also hung a larger sign on a free way overpass.

Can anyone report if they've seen anything or if they are still up?

10. Thank you, Clobbersaurus
Hope you enjoyed your trip. The forests are at their peak color. I haven't been down that way, so I can't tell you if your signs are still there, but I can tell you that all Ohio DUers appreciate your work. :yourock:
