Police: Angry Ohio boy, 4, shoots baby sitter
Source: AP

JACKSON, Ohio (AP) — Police say an angry 4-year-old Ohio boy grabbed a gun from a closet and shot his baby sitter.

Eighteen-year-old Nathan Beavers was hospitalized Sunday with minor wounds to his arm and side after the shotgun attack. Police say another teen was also injured.

Witnesses told police the child was angry because Beavers accidentally stepped on his foot. Beavers was watching the child at a mobile home in Jackson with several other teenagers and several other children.

Jackson County Sheriff John Shashteen says authorities are investigating. The child has not been charged.

1. And a loaded gun just happened to be within reach of a four year old in a unlocked closet!
I tell you some people should never have kids.

2. This is why all babysitters should be armed.
Seriously though, a four year old with access to a gun is criminal. That he knows how to use it (fairly) well is suspicious upon the parents as well.

3. 2nd amendment rights trump babysitters.
This kind of stuff happens every day. Why is it even news?

A FOUR-YEAR-OLD? A 4 year old shot a SHOTGUN?

First, it is very implausible that the child would even be able to pull the trigger.
Second, it is even harder to believe he would be able to aim and actually hit the baby sitter.

MY opinion... the babysitter and his buddy were screwing around with the gun, and his BUDDY, not the 4 year old, shot him.

That seems much more feasible.

7. My first thoughts too...
but you would be amazed at the trouble a 4yo could do. I once tested my 2 yo and gave her my key ring. I asked her to show me the car key, the door key, the mail box key etc....she knew them all. I asked her to show me how the door worked- she could-with the help of a chair she drug to the door. When I took her to grandma's I picked up her keys off the coffee table and we repeated the experiment. Grandmother was shocked. I asked baby to go open Grandma's car. AND SHE DID! Grandma was commenting on how bright and quick to learn...and then I told her that I didn't teach her this. You might want to be careful what is in her reach was all I said to shocked G'mother. Good thing I didn't have a kid that was a trouble maker like I was. I would have been out trying to drive Mom's car if I could have gotten the keys. Both our houses were really child proofed after that experiment.

8. My thought exactly
how could the 4 year old defend himself against this? I'd say the teens did it. My 27 year old son got put on his ass shooting a shot gun si I just don't see a 4 year old child shooting one....not to mention he'd have to have the arm length to hold the barrel and pull the trigger.

6. No, just a way to bury a topic that DU doesn't like to have discussed.
