Strickland has appointed former GOP chair Bob Bennett to head the AG search?
Tell me I'm missing something here.

"...The 26-member screening committee will be led by GOP Chairman Bob Bennett and includes Cuyahoga County GOP Chairman Rob Frost and former Attorney General Betty Montgomery, whom Dann defeated in November 2006."

1. I think so, the screening committee is by the Ohio GOP, not Ted's

Meanwhile, the Ohio Republican Party on Wednesday announced it has formed a screening committee to evaluate potential attorney general candidates for the November election. The party's 66-member central and executive committee will make the pick.

The 26-member screening committee will be led by GOP Chairman Bob Bennett and includes Cuyahoga County GOP Chairman Rob Frost and former Attorney General Betty Montgomery, whom Dann defeated in November 2006.

2. Strickland gets to pick; I guess I don't know all the rules, but as long as the search committee
make-up isn't his call, I guess we would have to live with the rules.

It just doesn't seem to be aligned with the recent news reports. There has to be an election at some point, but in the meantime, I thought it was Strickland's call.

3. the GOP search committee is not working for Ted
The GOP is doing its own search for a candidate that can be competitive in the fall against a dem nominee. Strickland can pick someone to fill in till the election is held, he is indicating that he has a pool of 40 candidates to choose from as his pick.

The blog is confusing Ted's selection process with the GOP search for a fall GOP candidate.

4. I did, too.
Just a few days back Montgomery County Prosecutor Mat Heck said he was called by the governor's office to vet his interest in the job. He said he'd be willing to talk.
