Robin Weirauch - 5th Congressional District
Let us not forget that there is a special election underway to fill the Congressional seat in the 5th. I received a phone call the other night and learned that Sherrod Brown's Western field director will be heading up the field operations for Robin. I think some attention is going to be paid to this race. As it should. It is a special election and we don't have to focus on other races for the next two months. (Other than local for the next few days, of course.)

1. I saw her a few months ago
Edited on Sun Nov-04-07 03:24 AM by liberalnurse
at the May Convention, before the "opportunity" occurred. She was just barely thinking about running again, maybe even just being polite in conversation regarding another campaign....the sacrifice is great, the time and money and some of us have to work a job during the campaign! So, this is a Bonanza of good news! Sherrod Brown behind her is a 1,000 Blessings..........support from our leaders is a must! I am thrilled!:bounce: :woohoo: :applause:

What a diffrence a day makes!

5. Just got a robocall from Sherrod myself.
I urge everyone here to donate to Robin's campaign if possible. She's going to need every penny to combat Club for Growth's attempt to buy the district.

8. Popular Democrat wins chance to replace Gillmor
Wednesday, November 07,
A Democrat who received more support a year ago than any candidate in her party's history in a heavily Republican congressional district appeared to be cruising to a primary victory Tuesday, setting herself up to take on a GOP opponent who won't have the benefit of incumbency.

Robin Weirauch had 76 percent of the vote with about half of the precincts reporting, to 24 percent for Democratic opponent George Mays.

In early returns in a five-way Republican race, State Rep. Bob Latta maintained a shrinking lead over State Sen. Steve Buehrer. Latta had roughly 46 percent of the vote, while Buehrer had 42 percent.

The winners will face each other in a general election on Dec. 11.

The 5th District seat is open because U.S. Rep. Paul Gillmor died in September from an apparent fall down the stairs in his Washington apartment.

Due to "intermittent" voting machine failure in Putnam County, polls in that county were to stay open until 9 p.m. for voting in the congressional primary, the secretary of state's office said. Voting in all other races in Putnam County, and in the other 15 counties that make up the 5th District, was to end at the normal time of 7:30 p.m.

10. I heard today that the ODP and DCCC
have people involved. Also that the DCCC is gonna do some polling. Other good news... (I haven't confirmed) I hear Ted and Sherrod both carried the district. I think a huge push is underway for the 5th. I volunteered to help. (I volunteered for her campaign last year and held a fundraiser.)

Well guys and gals, its gonna be all about turnout - right? If you have some time to spare let the Campaign, the ODP know, or you can pm me - I am hoping to meet with her field director next week as I think our ladies group will handle phone calls and such in one of the small, partial counties.

BTW - Poli thank you again for the fund raising check for Robin last year!

13. I wish the State Party would keep their negative stuff to themselves
crying corruption at every turn is really, really getting old, especially when it's inappropriate, misleading and unfair.
