Hospital's new name to reflect benefactor
http://www.dispatch.com/dispatch/content/health/stories/2007/06/22/childrens_logo.ART_ART_06-22-07_B1_2D737N6.html

Columbus Children's Hospital will officially change its name to Nationwide Children's Hospital on Sept. 24, honoring the $50 million gift from the local insurer announced by the hospital a year ago.

Other major donors will have areas within the hospital named for them. The Abercrombie & Fitch Emergency Department and Trauma Center will recognize that firm's $10 million contribution. The Limited Too and Justice Main Lobby will be named after those local companies, whose parent company -- formerly Too Inc., now Tween Brands -- gave $5 million to Children's.

What "just for fun" corporate names can we assign other departments. The P&G Pampers NICU? The ENT Clinic and Ophthamology Depts. courtesy of MTV Networks and Time-Warner, respectively?

1. Whatever happened to the good old days of philantrophy?
When people/organizations/companies donated money with no expectation? Now it seems like it's a quid pro quo, with free advertising thrown in.

Will this hospital take care of the uninsured? Ha ha. Silly me.

2. the scariest part here is that the insurer will effectively "own" the health provider
total conflict of interest, not that it's new under the sun.
