Rove is worried about (Mean) Schmidt
... Kentucky native Scott Jennings, who works as a deputy to President Bush's political guru Karl Rove, included the list of endangered Republicans in a PowerPoint presentation that he made to employees at the GSA during a political briefing last January.

The House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform is investigating whether that meeting violated the Hatch Act, which outlaws partisan campaign activity on federal property.

Schmidt, a Miami Township Republican who was elected to a second term last November by just 2,500 votes, is the only local lawmaker on the endangered list.

Two other Ohioans made the list - Rep. Deborah Pryce, who represents the Columbus area and was re-elected last year by just 1,000 votes; and Rep. Ralph Regula of Navarre. Regula was re-elected last November by a wide margin, but his seat is on the endangered list because it's believed he may not seek re-election next year ...

2. word of insiders is that he will now run again, which I argued about and was told
there was "a change of plans."

Perhaps because he knows there isn't another R with enough name recognition to win, but he had a young contender in the primary who is ultra-right that came in with a surprising amount of votes.

3. Regula &LaTourette can no longer bring the goody-goodies to their district
To Regula's credit, he did get funding for trails and parks. Latourette was bringing highway money through earmarks/pork and did "protect" the Defense Finance Center in downtown Cle for Mr. Kucinich. But neither of them are in the majority party now. Now would be the time to go after them.
