Mail from the Republicans
In the last week, my husband and I (both registered democrats) have received booklets in the mail from the Ohio Republican Party reminding us that all Ohio residents are eligible to vote by mail. The booklet contains instructions on how to vote absentee, two postcards requesting an absentee ballot and of course an ad for the Republicans.

Maybe I'm just too cynical, but I can't help think that there's something more to this than just encouraging the democratic process.

Any ideas?

I wish someone would advertise that Ohio residents will need show ID to vote this November. I think this may cause beau coup problems.

I sent my request for an absentee ballot in on September 26 from a form from my local BOE, in my OWN envelope, and have NOT seen the ballot as of yet.

I will be calling tomorrow to ask why.

2. We have had problems in my county
with the absentee ballots being misprints. Our BOE has sent them back 3 times to get corrected, so maybe your BOE is having the same issues. Just thought I would throw that out there.

3. they are leaving no rock unturned, plus they cant be accused of suppressin
the vote then either, right?

they are both bold and insidious.

I crashed an R event last night; it doesn't matter--they know they are crashing and burning anyway.

4. I've received tons of crap from Repubs
I'm a registered Dem as well and I have been receiving a ton of stuff from the Republican party, with my actual name on the information. I sent them a nasty e-mail to remove me immediately from their mailing list.

7. Perhaps they are worried about Democratic hackers?
They know the system is not secure. They should worry.

8. today's press release from The Ohio Republicans
Statement from Chairman Bob Bennett

(Columbus) – Ohio Republican Party Chairman Bob Bennett issued the following statement regarding Bob Ney’s guilty plea to violating federal law:

“Bob Ney is a liar, a criminal and a disgrace to public service. He’s a cancer in the Congress who needs to be removed, and I’m asking the members of Ohio’s congressional delegation to take the lead on expelling him from the U.S. House. It’s unfortunate that Mr. Ney continues to insult his constituents by refusing to surrender his arrogant grip on power. I applaud the House leadership for taking quick and decisive action on forcing him out.”

OOOOKay? How many days has it been since they knew he was going down?

10. suggestion - dont vote by mail, go VOTE absentee in person ...
(I know there is an oxymoron somewhere)

I dont know if this applies to all counties, but in Wayne & Medina counties,
go to the BOE, fill up the absentee form and VOTE right then and there.

You'll be done in 10 minues.

The repubs know this and are pushing hard to make sure no potential R is
lost to abstains.

Faithful Rs wont have the stomach to vote D if they are made to vote, but
might abstain if not pushed by the party.

Hence the push from the repubs...I think.

-max.
