Comments on the anti Zach Space teevee ad
Anybody see this one, about some group that supports Zach Space and they are against the pRezident's Star Wars Missle Defense Shield?

What a red herring! It should be pointed out that this "new" missile defense system DOES NOT WORK and has FAILED every test thus far and amounts to a taxpayer-dollar Black Hole dumping MORE money into the military-industrial complex? Not to mention that the "terrists" aren't going to use an ICBM (the Red Herring)?

And why is this attack ad running in CLE OH? Space's district is 150 miles SOUTH of here!

:grr:

1. I saw it and thought...
Gee, I agree with all that stuff, too. Anyway I thought it was funny that they were attacking his supporters and not the candidate.

2. It's running in Columbus, too
And what a crazy ad - blaming him for the positions of an unrelated entity that made a donation. How about we form a group dedicated to pedophilia, everlasting war and the elimination of the constitution? Then our group could donate $10 to every Repug we want to target and create the exact same kind of ad against them. It's ridiculous.

4. Actually the 18th begins just south of Canton
Tuscarawas, Carroll and Holmes counties are primarily in the Cleveland viewing area. The 18th district is enormous. It stretches from just a few miles south of Canton to one county shy of the river in Southern Ohio; and from the river in Eastern Ohio all the way to Newark. That means Zack has to make tv buys in Cleveland, Columbus, Steubenville, Wheeling and Portsmouth.

Here's what the PD had to say about the ad last week.

http://www.cleveland.com/open/plaindealer/index.ssf?/base/cuyahoga/11602103687140.xml&coll=2

In Ohio's 18th Congressional District, a commercial targeting Democrat Zack Space suggests he is bankrolled by America's most implacable enemies.

The ad, paid for by the Republican National Congressional Committee, focuses on $5,000 or so in contributions made through the left-sounding Council for a Livable World.

The ad, featuring whiz-bang graphics straight out of a video game, says the council favors $130 billion in defense cuts and immediate withdrawal from Iraq, while opposing development of a missile defense system that would shelter us from "rogue nations."

"His supporters aren't just radical," goes the closing line. "They're dangerous."

So who are these subversives?

The Washington, D.C.-based council was founded by scientists who developed the atomic bomb and is now headed by former Colorado Democratic Sen. Gary Hart. Its board members include two retired generals; the group is generally considered centrist and regularly endorses Republicans, said Guy Stevens, the chief operating officer.

6. N. Korea - interesting timing
Now how did they know there was going to be a nuke test in NK? Serendipity? Chance?

On the BBC show "Have Your Say" I've already heard a number of people demanding that we engage the US Missile Defense System (even tho' it doesn't work - they leave that part out!).

Once again we have shoot-from-hip ask-questions-later so-called pundits not thinking things through:

Experts Warn Of Accidental Nuclear War

A Pentagon project to modify its deadliest nuclear missile for use as a conventional weapon against targets such as North Korea and Iran could unwittingly spark an atomic war, two weapons experts warned Thursday.

~
"Any launch of a long-range nonnuclear armed sea or land ballistic missile will cause an automated alert of the Russian early warning system," Postol told reporters.

So, how much can we raise for "Pedophiles for Padget"? Maybe we can do radio ads?

:patriot:

7. It's so over the top it's laughable
How seriously can people take that ad? Even for a political ad, it's clearly an exaggeration.
